The Communities of the Cuyahoga
Valley
The Village of
Brooklyn Heights Founded in 1903 and just an eight-minute drive
from downtown, The Village of Brooklyn Heights is a small community of about 1,600 located outside of Cleveland in the heart of Cuyahoga County. In its first century of existence, the Village has demonstrated itself to be an American rarity: a small town that combines familiar warmth and natural beauty with a dynamic sense of living history and future purpose. Our community offers low property taxes, excellent village services and easy access to I-77, I-480 and State Route 176. A strong police presence, a wonderful park and recreation center and a variety of housing options in a varied price range makes Brooklyn Heights a wonderful place to live, work and own a business. Children in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 attend the Cuyahoga Heights School District, which boasts an Excellent State Report Card for the past 12 consecutive years. For more information visit us at www.brooklynhts.org.
Mayor Michael S. Procuk
The City of
Seven Hills The City of Seven Hills is a five-
square-mile town of 15,000 people, nestled between Parma and Independence and is almost entirely residential, with festivals, parades and close-knit neighbors. The City’s recreation center has become the epicenter of activity. The City boasts a country setting, but is conveniently located near I-77, getting its residents to downtown Cleveland in 10 to 15 minutes. Seven Hills is one of the safest communities where crime is non-existent. Children living in Seven Hills attend the Parma School System, rated “Excellent” by the State of Ohio. Visit www.sevenhillsohio.org for more information. Mayor Richard P. Dell’Aquila www.cu yah o g avalleychamber.org

The City of Centrally located at the crossroads of Interstate
480 and Interstate 77, Independence is widely known as the “Heart of Cuyahoga County” and the region. Cleveland Magazine’s 2012 Rating the Suburbs rated Independence as the fourth most desirable suburb in Northeast Ohio! With just over 7,000 residents in 9.73 square miles, the City of Independence embraces all the charm of a small town community while maintaining a robust commercial setting as well. Beautiful civic and recreation facilities offer a variety
Independence of community activities and programming year round, which brings families and neighbors together in a rich experience of community life. This year we had the distinct pleasure of being the “Start City” for Fireball Run 2012, Northern Exposure, a national, livestreamed ‘adventurally’ to recover America’s Missing Children. As the Start City, Independence hosted three days of activities which Mayor Gregory P. Kurtz showcased the wonderful attributes of our City, as well as northeast Ohio! Not only did this put Independence on the map, it generated a fantastic economic opportunity for this community. To quote the Fireball Run officials, “Independence set the bar for starting line destinations. I can’t even begin to word our gratitude for it all…from the early arrival mixer to driver registration to the green flag send off. If this is what you can do for a production – Independence can do “anything” it sets its mind to. If anyone ever questions having a business, event, or production in Independence, we will be your top advocates. WOW – what a send-off!” As Mayor, I was proud to be a part of Fireball Run’s noble effort and proud of what our City can and will do for the opportunity to be the best community in which to live, work, visit and raise a family! The Village of Cuyahoga
Heights
Having the lowest real estate rates in the Greater
Cleveland area, the Village of Cuyahoga Heights has attracted a wide range of diverse and very successful businesses. Today, it’s home to some of the region’s largest industrial enterprises. In contrast, the Village has lovely residential streets, an exceptional school system, excellent police, fire and governmental services and acres of beautiful, accessible parks. The Cleveland Metroparks CanalWay Center serves as the gateway to the busy Towpath Trail and scenic “Hidden Valley” along the Cuyahoga River. There are trails for walking, biking and running, observation decks to see wildlife, fishing spots and picnic areas – all here for everyone’s enjoyment throughout the year. Just six miles south of downtown Cleveland at the crossroads of Interstates 77 and 480, the Village of Cuyahoga Heights is one of the area’s most favorable locations to live and do business. Message from the CVCC Superintendent Our community has so many great opportunities for adults and students. One resource that I am most proud of is Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC). We seek more ways than ever before to bring the exceptional career and technical programs and services to the community so all area residents can benefit. The Career Center serves a total of eight public school districts, including five in Cuyahoga County and three in Summit County, providing career-technical high school programs, adult education, career development (K-12) and community services. Using technologically advanced programs and equipment, CVCC begins career education at the kindergarten level. Annually, our students earn state and national recognition for their skills. Articulation agreements with several colleges allow students to earn college credit for many CVCC courses. Adult education is open to all northeast Ohio adults, offering affordable, customized training with new classes starting monthly. Plus, the School of Nursing at CVCC offers full and parttime programs. I would personally like to invite you to visit for a preview of our programs and services that will interest you. Personalize Your Home By Kay Szalancy, The Framer’s Gallery
Most people have
at least one treasured item or picture waiting to be framed and displayed - a family memory tucked away in a closet or drawer. There are two essential reasons to frame your keepsakes. The first is presentation. Presentation is about the appearance factors – selecting frame elements to your style and color that create the most visually attractive display. The second is preservation. Preservation is about keeping your keepsakes in their present condition. For your keepsakes on display, preservation framing is the best protection against harmful light, temperature and humidity changes, airborne dust and chemical contaminants, and insects. Preservation framing provides the best long- term value for displaying your treasures. A custom frame or shadowbox is a perfect way to preserve special memories and family heirlooms. Think of all the things you can add to tell the complete story with a shadowbox

– jerseys, running shoes, golf tees, tickets, photos, articles, medals, a collection of items, and just about anything. Good design, display ideas and the use of preservation framing materials should be what you expect from a knowledgeable custom picture framer. The most common framed items are: artwork, graduation diplomas, photographs, posters, wedding invitations and portraits, mementos and children’s art. Beautiful framing personalizes your home. It will surely bring joy to you and your family everyday for generations to come!
