Attention Belvidere Township Property Owners Interested In Appealing Their 2024 Assessment
A primary duty of the Belvidere Township Assessor’s Office is to monitor real estate sales data and use that information to uniformly assess, or value, real property. The Fair Market Value indicated in your recently mailed assessment notice is based on the sales information we’ve reviewed for property like yours.
If you disagree with the indicated value, you have a right to file an assessment appeal. It is important to note that you are appealing the property value, not the property taxes. Filing an assessment appeal will not necessarily affect the amount you pay in property taxes.
I recommend contacting our office first if you’re considering filing an appeal. It’s important to verify your property record, verify the information used to value your property, and obtain additional information regarding the appeal process.

Stuart Magnuson
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Stu Magnuson, 62, of Poplar Grove, IL, ended his battle with cancer in his home surrounded by his children.
Stu is survived by his children, Stephanie, Samantha (Michael), Stetson (Brooklyn), Crystal (Levi), Amber (Preston) & Jeffery. He had so much pride in and loved bragging about his grandchildren.
Stu drove semi-truck for 23 years and farmed since the age of 17. He was married to Kimberly Magnuson. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building computers, but most importantly spending time with his family. Stu grew up in Garden Prairie, where he graduated from North Boone High School. While attending High School, he got a job on a farm for John Pepper where he worked until his last days.
We are all saddened by his passing and will miss him terribly.
