Teofilo Manfredi

April 18, 1950 – January 30, 2023

Denise Federici Fish’s beloved first cousin.

Teofilo “Teo” Manfredi, age 72, entered peaceful rest on January 30, 2023, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the loving & devoted husband of forty-nine years to Rita Gruttadauria Manfredi.

With sincere gratitude, there are not enough words to fully express our heartfelt thanks for the sympathy, love & support everyone has extended to our family during this time of loss. A special thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Celebration of Life, each one of you was a pillar of support & your presence meant the world to us.

Teo was born in Bedonia Parma, Italy on April 18, 1950, son of the late Luigi & Maria Serventi Manfredi. In 1967, he came to the United States & resided in Shelton for forty-two years. Teo was a builder & carpenter who owned & operated Teo’s Home Improvement. In his earlier years in Italy, he worked as a lumber jack & a bartender. Teo was well known for his record breaking Christmas light display at his home in Shelton each year. People would come from miles away to enjoy the magnificent holiday display. Spectators would bring toys for children which Teo lovingly donated to Toys for Tots. It was this selfless act that earned him the United Way Volunteer of the Year award & the TEAM Partnership award. His love of life was centered around his family, friends & his memories of the beautiful mountains in Italy. He enjoyed weekly “Director’s Meetings” with his best friends Francis Macilvain & David Bertola. Teo was also an avid bowler for many years. He will be missed by all.

In addition to his wife Rita, Teo leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Dr. Courtney M. Benedetto (Stanley III); a sister, Marisa Guerra; & a brother, Albino Manfredi (Carla); along with numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Teo’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Anne Chiang, Dr. Veronica Chiang, the Thoracic Oncology & Infusion teams at Smilow Cancer Hospital & Griffin Hospital for their expertise & care over the past decade.
