Boone County will be hosting the U.S. Small Business Administration to assist with Economic Injury Disaster Loans for those who were affected by the Severe Storms on March 31, 2023
What is an Economic Injury Disaster Loan and who is eligible: Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) - Working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster. These loans are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period.

A Memorial Service for Ken Holmes, who passed away peacefully at home in Mesa, Arizona on December 21, 2022 will be held on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1300 Pearl St., Belvidere.
Visitation will be at 10 AM with Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM. There will be no graveside service as he has been cremated & will be interned at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Lynell Carter, 75, of Belvidere, IL, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on July 2nd, 2023. She was born on August 10th, 1947 in Evansville, WI, to Walter and Helen (Griffith) Powers. Lynell married Bill Carter on September 28th, 1968, in Belvidere IL, & together they shared 54 years of marriage. She was a member of the Belvidere Kingdom Hall Church. Lynell loved planting flowers & was gifted at gardening, winning yard of the month three times.
Lynell is loved & will be missed by her husband, Bill; son, Joel Carter; & siblings, Larry (Sharon) Powers, Sandra (Dan) Little, Susan Berkowitz, Tom Powers, & Ted (Sandy) Powers. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Carter; & parents, Walter and Helen.
Lynell’s visitation will be held July 14th, 2023 at 9 AM at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 218 West Hurlbut St., Belvidere, IL 61008. Services will be held at 11 AM, with interment to follow at Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belvidere Kingdom Hall.

Cynthia Diane Seibel, 74, of Machesney Park, IL passed away June 30, 2023. She was born in Luverne, Minnesota. The daughter of Beatrice (Neubert) and Joseph Whitfield. Cynthia was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She worked for over 30 years at Chrysler in Belvidere, IL until her retirement. She had a strong work ethic and would often bring treats and uplift her coworkers with her kindness. She was a talented
cook and enjoyed making meals for her loved ones. Her specialty dishes included lasagna, corned beef, 7 layered salad, as well as brownies and other desserts. Cynthia loved animals, especially her pets and took very good care of them. She loved shopping, and was a longtime subscriber of QVC home shopping network. Cynthia was always on the go. She had an active lifestyle of going out to eat with family and friends, and running errands, and keeping busy. Above all Cynthia loved spending quality time with her family. She will be missed by many. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
She is survived by her siblings, David (Susan) Whitfield, Pamela (Daniel) Coghlan, Scott Whitfield, Shawn (Delores) Whitfield; nieces & nephews, January, David and Brooke, special niece, Brandy, Tyler, Kylea, & Sydni, special nephew, Teddy, Jr., & Heather; special cousin, Janice; as well as numerous cousins, friends & extended family whom she loved dearly. She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, Joseph & Beatrice Whitfield; and her brothers, Ted (Sandy) Whitfield & Brian Whitfield; as well as aunts, uncles & cousins.
