For A Safe School Year

School’s in & children are on the move. Please help ensure their safety by driving carefully & following these simple safety tips behind the wheel.

When a school bus is traveling on a two-lane roadway & is stopped to pick up or drop off, vehicles in all lanes of traffic MUST STOP. Vehicles should stop at least 20 ft. before reaching the school bus to allow students to cross the roadway safely.

When a school bus is traveling on a four-lane roadway with at least 2 lanes of traffic traveling in the opposite direction, only those lanes of traffic traveling in the same direction as the school bus MUST STOP. Remember state law requires all school buses to stop at railroad crossings. Vehicles should not try to cross the tracks behind the school bus until the bus has cleared the tracks.

Look out for children in residential areas, playgrounds and school zones. Be aware of and obey reduced speed limits in school zones.
