23/24 PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
Packets for 2023/2024 Preschool are available at Rivers Edge Rec Center. To register, return the completed packet along w/copy of a birth certificate & one months payment of preschool, which secures your child’s place & will be applied as your child’s May payment. Monthly EFT payments will be withdrawn on the 1st of every mo. beginning 9-1-23. Pay for the full year at registration & receive a 5% discount.
PRESCHOOL (Ages 3-4) Introductory preschool will be exploring colors, numbers, & letters through manipulative materials, arts & crafts, songs, & games. Focus on developing social skills such as sharing, following directions & consideration of other’s feelings. Basic kindergarten readiness skills will also be taught including listening, scissors & writing skills, & the alphabet & number recognition.
PRE-K (Ages 4-5) Building on the basic skills in preparation for kindergarten. Letter & number formation & recognition, writing skills, & building confidence will be the focus. The topics of math, science, & art will continue to be built upon.
THIRD BASE is a cooperative after-school recreation program, between the Belvidere Park District & School District #100. A fun environment for boys & girls in grades K-5. Activities include group games, homework time, parties and arts & crafts. The program, operates until 6:00 pm on full day of school

FALL SOCCER SQUIRTS!
Designed to teach children the basics of soccer. Dribbling, passing, shooting, & listening skills will be covered through exciting games that
keep everyone involved. During this instructional class, participants will develop their skills through drills & practice games! Participants must wear shin guards. Participants will receive a T-shirt & will also receive a medal at the end of the season.
YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE
Involve your child in the sport of soccer while learning the importance of teamwork! Children will participate in games with an emphasis on fun, participation & learning the rules of the game. These concepts will build selfesteem & enhance muscle growth. Games will be played on a reduced-size field & goals for participants age 5-7 years old. Participants in the 8 -10 age group will play on a U10 field size. These age groups will practice once a week & play games on Saturday mornings. Shin guards & closed-toed athletic shoes required. All players will receive a jersey & receive a medal at the end of the season.
Children ages 2-7 are invited to bring their personal Power Wheel & compete in a friendly race! The competition will be divided into two age classes - ages 2-4 & 5-7, competing separately. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place for both age classes. Registered Power Wheels must be original stock vehicle with not modified batteries. Helmets are required for participation.

Explore the songs & dances of villains from various musicals & movies throughout time. We’ll explore their emotions, motives & how to become the ultimate musical villain! Fee includes materials & instruction.
LITTLES MUSIC, MOVEMENT & PLAY A half hour of social play, games, identifying colors, counting, music, and active movement for your little one! Perfect to burn some energy and encourage movement and socialization among other children. Parents are welcome to participate in class!
THEATRE: ACTING & PERFORMANCE Explore acting, blocking, managing stage fright, building a show & performing in front of an audience. Students will walk through the audition process, identify a character, reading & memorize lines, as well as being comfortable performing! We’ll perform “Stories under the Big Top.” Fee includes script, shirt, costume & instruction.

Glenn Ole Johnson
Glenn Ole Johnson, 80, of Caledonia, IL, passed away on August 10, 2023 at home with his family by his side. He was born on November 23, 1942 in Belvidere, IL. The son of Ruth & George Johnson.
Glenn graduated from North Boone High School, class of 1960. He went on to serve in the United States Army, based in Fort Bliss. On November 18, 1967 he married the love of his life, Linda, & together they shared 3 children & 55 years of marriage.
Glenn worked for many years at General Mills, in Belvidere, in maintenance until his retirement. He enjoyed lawn care & tractors, & quality time with his family. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson; their children, Glenn A. Johnson, Dawn (John) Sands, Brian (Kim) Johnson; grandchildren, Rowan, Kaitlee & Kelsee, as well as numerous nieces & nephews & extended family.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ruth & George Johnson; sisters, Gladys Mundy & Gloria Mittman; and brothers, George & Gail Johnson.
Glenn’s visitation will be Friday, August 18 between the hours of 10 am & 12 pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service to follow at 12 pm & burial at Highland Gardens of Memories.
