Packets for 2023/2024 Belvidere Park District Preschool are available at Rivers Edge Rec Center. To register, return the completed registration packet along w/copy of a birth certificate & one months payment of preschool, which secures your child’s place & will be applied as your child’s May payment. Monthly EFT payments will be withdrawn on the 1st of every mo. beginning 9-1-23. Pay for the full year at registration & receive a 5% discount.
PRESCHOOL (Ages 3-4) Introductory preschool will be exploring colors, numbers, & letters through manipulative materials, arts & crafts, songs, & games. Focus on developing social skills such as sharing, following directions & consideration of other’s feelings. Basic kindergarten readiness skills will also be taught including listening, scissors & writing skills, & the alphabet & number recognition.
PRE-K (Ages 4-5) Building on the basic skills in preparation for kindergarten. Letter & number formation & recognition, writing skills, & building confidence will be the focus. The topics of math, science, & art will continue to be built upon.
Third Base is a cooperative after-school recreation program, between the Belvidere Park District & School District #100. A fun environment for boys & girls in grades K-5. Activities include group games, homework time, parties and arts & crafts. The program, operates until 6:00 pm on full day of school Registration will be daily; your child must be registered for the week by Wednesday at 11:59 pm prior to the week attending. Altered Farm Stock Tractors are allowed to have “P” pumps. Altered Farm Stock Tractors may be sanctioned. Altered Farm Stock Tractors must be weighed in on scale at fairgrounds by Noon the day of pull. A tractor may pull only in two classes and only once in a class. All Tractor Pulling Contest Standardized Rules apply to the Altered Farm Stock Tractors. Fly wheel must be steel. Illini State Altered Farm Stock Tractor Rules apply also. Lloyd Max Janeway
Lloyd Max Janeway, 79, of Belvidere, IL passed away on July 22, 2023 in the comfort of his home. He was born & raised in Bulls Gap Tennessee to Conley & Evelyn on April 9th 1944. In 1960 he moved to Belvidere. He worked for Central Rubber Company & then started his career at Dean Foods in 1965.
Lloyd met & married Linda Ruth Franke Kesterson. They were married on May 27th, 1966. The two of them owned & operated Belvidere Sanitary Service while he continued to work for Deans, then retiring from Deans in 1996. Following his retirement he worked at the Boone County Fairgrounds doing maintenance. After that, he was employed as a maintenance engineer for Forest Health Services for 10 Years.
During all of these years of working Lloyd & his wife Linda restored his 1949 Chevy pickup truck. The original truck he learned to drive in. In Lloyd’s spare time he loved NASCAR racing, being outdoors, & being with his family. He is loved & will be missed by his family & friends.
He is survived by his wife Linda of 57 years; his daughters, Phyllis & Ron Brown, Daralee & Jeff Bollock; and his son, Mike & Kim Janeway. He also loved & adored his 8 grandchildren; Jennifer, Emily & Matt Brown, Sara, McKenzie & Blake Bollock, Katarina & Makayla Janeway. He was also blessed to know & love 8 great-grandchildren; Izaiah, Jayden, Noah, Zoey, Aubree, Jillian, Lily & Paisley. Lloyd is survived by brother, Lawrence (Lisa); sister-in-law Lois; and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Conley & Evelyn; infant brother, Douglas; brothers, Marvin, Everett & sister, Alma. The family would like to thank Northern Illinois Hospice. Especially his caretakers, Valerie & Danielle. As well as all of the family & friends that supported us in his time of need.
Lloyd’s visitation was last Thursday, July 27 & funeral service last Friday, July 28th.
She was born on February 18, 1964, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Belvidere.
Carol was more than a loving wife, a caring mother, a sister, an aunt, & a grandmother;
Carol Ann Chambers she was an incredible force of warmth, love, & laughter. She led a remarkable life in service of others, touching the hearts of everyone who had the undeniable privilege of knowing her. Carol’s light will only grow upon the foundation of love & kindness she instilled in each of the lives she touched.
Preceded in death by her parents, Donald & Esther Nelson; her family finds comfort in the knowledge that Carol will be welcomed home with open arms. Carol is remembered & deeply missed by the love of her life, Dean Chambers, to whom she was married for 38 wonderful years. Her two sons, Heath (Emily) Chambers & Brock (Kassie) Chambers. A sister, Deb (Bill) Werner; niece, Renee (Shane) Lunde; and nephew, Branson (Susanna) Werner. Motherin-law, Dixie Chambers, & father-in-law, Howard Chambers. Brotherin-law Brad (Shannon) Chambers & nieces, Olivia & Lauren. Carol leaves behind a host of grateful grandchildren & great-nieces whom she showered with love at every opportunity: Skye, Brynlee, Rowan, Madison, Riggins, Harlow, & Elle.
Carol did not reserve her love solely for her family, she loved freely & gave deeply to her church & community. Carol taught Sunday school at First United Methodist Church in Belvidere, IL for over 25 years. She served in the community as a registered nurse for over 24 years & volunteered at her church’s yearly summer camp for children in foster care. Everywhere she went, Carol’s positivity was contagious. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room & made every event a cause for celebration. Carol cast such a bright light into the world, her warmth will continue to be felt even in memory.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Belvidere, IL from 6-8 pm. On August 8, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Belvidere, a visitation will be held at 10 am followed by a service at 11 am. As Carol Chambers dedicated her life to caring for others, her family asks that in lieu of flowers, this tradition is continued & all tributes be made in the form of donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at bit.ly/JDRKcarol.

N.E. (Griff) Griffin, passed away surrounded by his family, on July 27th, 2023. Griff was born in Nyssa, Oregon on Nov. 17, 1934. Son of Raymond and Afton (Zink) Griffin. He retired from cement truck driving after 30 years, a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne. Griff was a member of the Moose Lodge 295 and American Legion Post 77. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed other sports including fishing. Griff is survived by his wife, Mary Louise (Schwebke) Griffin; son, Robert (Jackie) Hartman; daughters, Debra (Sam) Douthat, Diane (Rick) Harmon, Kimberly Renee Griffin, Denise (Brian) Wolf, Mary Rae Griffin; 14 grandchildren, and many great & great-great-grandchildren.
