Diana Lynn Worley

Diana Lynn Worley, 73 of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully September 12, 2024 after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 13, 1951 the daughter of Beverly (Moran) and Lolan “Buck” Jackson Hughbanks. Diana was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. On September

She owned and operated the Poplar Grocery Store for over 10 years. Prior to owning, she worked there for 5+ years. She took great joy in providing for her neighbors and was a familiar face in the community. She also worked at SHOPKO, drove a farm milk truck, and enjoyed helping on the family farm for many years.

After retirement Ed & Edie traveled to all 50 states & several countries. They loved to go antiquing to furnish their Victorian home. Ed loved collecting antique golf clubs, bags & other golf items. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church & was a lifetime member of the National Education Association & a member of the Belvidere Education Association. He was very involved with the YMCA Y’s Men Club & golfed nearly every day until he was 80 years old. He was a fan of all sports but really loved his St. Louis Cardinals! In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given in Ed’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

She held various jobs over the years, most importantly she was a stay-at-home mom for her four children. She worked at Four Star Restaurant in Belvidere, Edward’s Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove, K’s Merchandise in Rockford, & eventually went on to work for the Boone County Farm Service Agency in Belvidere in 1987, where she worked until retiring in June of 2012, after more than 25 years. At the Boone County Farm Service Agency, she provided a variety of assisted services for the local farming community. But what Carol enjoyed the most in life was spending time with her family: Cooking out, shopping adventures, reading a good book before bedtime, taking a trip to a local winery, coffee time in the morning, dinners/lunches out with her family, & snuggles with her grandchildren & great grandchildren every chance she could. Having her family & loved ones around brought her so much joy & happiness. She was the greatest mom in the World, putting everyone else first, a nurturing soul, & was always compassionate & caring to others. She gave great hugs & was truly a wonderful person, the pillar of our family, & she will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her so very much. She dedicated most of her time over the past 7 years as the primary caregiver for her mother, Lucille, & more recently her husband, Tom.
