Dear Mrs. Burke I am seeking a position on the Yearbook staff, preferably as an Advertisement staffer, for this is where most of my experience has been for the last year. Being part of the yearbook team has allowed me to have first hand experience with the demands of creating a high quality and memorable yearbook. After working for the yearbook staff last year, i have mastered the skills of Photoshop, InDesign and have become proficient in conducting interviews. I have acquired the ability to take unforgettable photos that captured action, reaction and emotion. I also have designed spreads according to design specifications and have written captions. I work well with others and manage my time wisely to ensure that I meet all my deadlines. I love the creative aspect of yearbook. My ultimate goal would be to help produce an interactive, relevant and fun yearbook that is unique and set apart from the rest. I feel that I would be a valued asset to your team and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to interview with you so that I may personally express my capabilities. I have enclosed my resume to further highlight my qualifications. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to meeting with you in the near future. Respectfully yours,

Enclosed: resume

Self-analytical evaluation To be absolutely honest, yearbook never even crossed my mind. I have always envisioned myself as a Boone High School Cheerleader. From the time I was in elementary school, I dreamt of wearing the BHS uniform and cheering on the sidelines at a packed Friday night football game. So imagine my surprise when I realized cheerleading was not my destiny. What to do now? My cousin Madison Nagle told me about her experience in yearbook and it truly peaked my interest. I applied for yearbook my sophomore year, and interviewed with Mrs. Burke and today I can say, without hesitation, that this is the best thing that has happened to me at Boone High School. I cannot say enough things about the positive and dynamic experiences I’ve had in yearbook this past year. I’ve had such a fun hands-on experience on the production of the Legend Yearbook. As an Ad staffer, I learned how to conduct interviews, design layouts, edit photos, place photos and create artistic elements. This class has taught me to work efficiently with others, stay organized and professional. I feel that I’ve been given a wealth of knowledge that I would’ve never would have acquired without yearbook. I believe my creativity, teamwork and dedication has been an asset to not only the production of the yearbook but to my everyday life. By continuing with yearbook, I hope to enhance all the skills that I have acquired this year and hopefully develop leadership skills that will allow me to be Advertisement editor my senior year.

reflection 1 Deadline 7, Girls lacrosse was my most challenging deadline this year. Shifting from ads to Spring Supplement required me to undertake tasks that was not required for ad staff. Unlike ads where my text and pictures were provided for me I had to take my photos and write my own text for deadline 7. I continued to be challenged through every editor. Each time I added and deleted, adhering to the suggestions of the editors. Although I had multiple revisions I was still able to meet my deadline.

reflection 2 y31. This was my first non- ad staff spread. I enjoy watching lacrosse, and what better spread to pick than one that has all my best friends facing off against high school rivals. I love the orange and charcoal color accents. Sports spread, 014-015

This was my all time favorite sports feature photo I shot this year. It was a great shot of the Girl’s Lacrosse goalie catching the ball, keeping the opponent from scoring.

I choose this piece for writing because it was my favorite writing, Although it was my only writing in the book the story started off rough, but with the help of each editor I was able to finish this outstanding story.

This spread was one of my favorites because it tied in all aspects of different layouts (full page, half page and quote page) all incorporated to form a spread.

It was a pleasure to help create and design this ad for this graduating senior. I like the color background choice of the dominant photo. I choose to incorporate the vibrant green in her name and quote.
