the new stuff i learned on staff this year is to use adobe programs such as photoshop and indesign and to improve my writing by going through multiple editors you really learn how to make your writing perfect. i have grown throughout the year by using all the techniques i have learned this year and have applied them to deadlines and each deadline i learn a new design element and a new way to produce a fInal product. teamwork and deadlines go hand in hand in the middle of one of my deadlines i had a falling out with my partner and it caused us to not work well together but then we realized that we had to fInish a fInal product and to just push our differences aside. when you work well with others you will succeed in life and this class taught me to do that. in this class you must have a lot of dedication and to get through this year i put so much hard work into this book and in the end it was really worth it to produce a great book.

self-evaluation

my purpose of this piece was to show how homecoming effects the students. this piece was difFicult to complete because it was my fIrst real deadline and i was afraid that i wouldn’t make my goal. when i fIrst started the page with my partner, abby, we were told that they wanted us to design the page similar to how last year’s was with the list of the homecoming court members, we also had another modular element with the homecoming parade fLoat winners that later got taken off the page. the page then got totally redesigned with the list of court members on the bottom horizontally instead of on the left vertical. the body copy and headline got moved to the right side and the pictures were put all in one row under the dominant. i learned along the way that sometimes when you put in hard work it turns out amazing in the end. i liked the end product because it less cluttered then the original design, had a more cleaner look.

y30. boys lacrosse 016-017 I would like this piece to represent me because i feel as though this was my best piece that i designed. it was my last deadline so i thought that on this piece i should show how much i improved throughout the year.in the beginning of the year i wouldn’t have known where to begin but over the course of the year i really improved. Y19. feature photo 048-049 i would like this piece to represent me because this photo really shows the emotion of the students during the homecoming dance.

y16. sports action photo I would like this is piece to represent me because the photo captures his swing and his facial expression during the swing. it shows his emotion and that’s what really makes the photo.

clubs-056-057-deadline

the explanation behind this page was to represent the academic clubs around boone, show their interaction and how they contribute to the school. The dominant photo we had did not turn out like we originally planned so three days before our deadline we had to run to a charity event and fInd our dominant photo. i chose this piece for writing because i thought this was my favorite piece i wrote.
