May 12, 2014 Carli and Daniel Earl 1832 Antigua Drive Orlando, FL 32806 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Earl, My name is Avery Reddeck and I am interested in a nanny position for the summer caring for your children. I feel that I am qualified for this position because of the experience I have babysitting and caring for children in and around my neighborhood. I would love this opportunity and I hope to talk with you soon about this position. I am a great candidate for this position because of my years of caring for children. I have gained the knowledge and skills by working with many families, such as the Eastwoods, Demers, and Blastics. Through school activities and professional courses I have added to my experience and become a good problem solver with children. I enjoy using my skills to help, teach and watch your children grow. Caring for your children would not only give me a chance to further develop my skills but also to nurture your children. In addition to my experience caring for children, I belong to other organizations mentioned in my resume that require responsibility, dedication, time management and hard work. I am committed to working hard for this position. I would love the chance to meet with you in person. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Avery Reddeck Enclosed: Resume

evaluation

I got started in Journalism my freshman year of high school, I didn’t un derstand what it was. In the class I learned a lot over the course of the year, and I started to like what was put into making a yearbook, so I decided to apply and I was accepted. In this first year of yearbook, I learned more than I did in any of my other classes. This class offers more life skills than my regular classes. For instance, I learned about time management this year especially when it came to deadlines. I didn’t realize what went into making a deadline. My first deadline was very educational, learning about time management and organization. Working through each deadline taught me more about organizational skills. There always seems to be more time than there really is as you begin to work toward a deadline. Every deadline that came along there was still something new to learn. Time is a big part of a deadline, I learned that you have to have everything together and know what your next step is in order to stay ahead of your deadline. One of the most important things is to use your skills and rely on others on your team to use their skills. Over the deadlines, I figured out how to use my journalism skills to the best of my abilities, and after my deadline would go through every editor; I learned more and more of those skills from every colored pen that marked up one of my pages. I am grateful for increased knowledge of journalism and production. I learned how to produce something that most people will never experience in their life. I know the skills and time it takes to produce an award winning book, how to produce the writing, the captions, the photographs and everything in between; the dedication and quality of time needed, but none of this would have been possible without a team. Teamwork is a big part of the production of this book, without the team there wouldn’t be anyone to bounce ideas around or to inspire and create with. The book becomes better with the help of others. I learned a lot about teamwork this year, what comes from it, the ups and the downs, but without them there wouldn’t be this amazing book. The skills I have learned this last two years will certainly help me in the future. I am a better writer, photographer and enjoy being part of an amazing project.

first reflection

For my third deadline, I did a page called every chair. This page was a difficult concept at first to figure out, finding an interest for each person and being able to write a story about them. I wrote three individual stories for this page. It was difficult at first to edit every story but as the deadline went on, I got the hang of it. The appeal of the page changed a lot over the deadline as we figured out how to place the pictures with the stories. The color of the boxes really helped with the matching of the pictures to the person’s story.

reflection

Y34. People spread with mug photos. This quote page represents me because of the appearance. The cobbing and the detail that went into this page and yet it still looks seamless. I am proud of the quality of this page and I think it represents me in this category.

Y16. Sports feature photo. This sports weightlifting photo should represent me because of the quality and look of the picture. This photo follows the rule of thirds and offers a leading line. It is a simple welltaken photo that shows my skills of photography.

Weightlifter player benches during the meet against Winter Park.

Y2. Sport reporting I think this story represents me in this category because of the angle and the uniqueness of the story. I feel like this story is well structured and written. It explains the boys season and what they experienced, It is a good piece.

I think this is a quality photo because of the focus on the one girl with a group of unfocused people around her.

I think this is a quality photo because of the depth of field and the light reflecting to frame out his face.

I think this is a quality photo because of the leading leads framing the weightlifter and the action shown in his face.
