“The Carter is thrilled to celebrate our 60th anniversary with a free, fun event with our community, who have played such a vital role on the past six decades of the Carter,” said Andrew J. Walker, the museum’s Executive Director. “With an evening of art, activities, and live music from the talented Shakey Graves, we know it will be a night to remember ending with the biggest birthday candles we could find—a fireworks show overlooking downtown Fort Worth from our lawn.”

September 25 will not only be a celebration of the past six decades of the Carter, but it will also be the opening day of two brand new exhibitions at the Museum. Keeping with its commitment to tell the history of American Art, the Carter will open the first exhibition to highlight the artwork of two local, Fort Worth artists, Scott and Stuart Gentling in Imagined Realism: Scott and Stuart Gentling. As for nurturing the future of American art, the Carter has commissioned PakistaniAmerican artist Anila Quayyum Agha to create site-specific sculptural installations next to related drawings from her multicultural experience in the exhibition Anila Quayyum Agha: A Beautiful Despair.

The Carter’s 60th Birthday Bash will also feature local vendors on-site offering a variety of items to be purchased. Visit cartermusuem.org/BirthdayBash to check out the full list of food trucks. Beer and wine will be available for purchase during the event.

Free tickets are available now at cartermuseum.org/BirthdayBash. All ages are required to have a free ticket to enter the event, including toddlers and infants.

tour. The Carter is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday noon-5 p.m.; Closed Mondays and select holidays. Admission is free.
