Borås – 2011 Best City Centre in Sweden Award Winner! “Borås is good at being a city and it's clear that they are investing in it. The City of Borås exudes attraction and desire!” The Swedish Association of Town Centre Management The annual Best City Centre in Sweden Award is an award for successful development of the city centre. The award is given to the Swedish city which has made the biggest measurable progress in the renovation of its centre during the previous year through cooperation between private and public investors.
Borås is the second largest city in western Sweden. For over 400 years, the city has adapted to its time, affected its surroundings and found new, unique ways of doing things. It has been a centre of commerce and textile production and has made great strides in progress. At present, Borås is a Nordic
centre of textile, design and fashion. It is the centre of research into and design of smart textiles and the fashion of the future. However, Borås is so much more than just trade, fashion and textiles. Borås is a living city with an exciting cultural life and an interesting history.

Show Up Fashion Award One of Sweden’s most exciting fashion design competitions celebrates its first birthday. However, the Show Up Fashion Award is more than just a competition. It’s an opportunity for up-and-coming young designers to step into the fashion industry. The Show Up Fashion Award is an annual contest arranged by Marketplace Borås. It offers creative students and unestablished and newly-launched designers a chance to get a foothold in the business, develop their ideas and start their own ventures. The aim is to give budding talents in the field of fashion and design a flying start via Marketplace Borås. The jury for the award includes Cay Bond and Margareta Van Den Bosch, Head of Design at H&M. The final of the Show Up Fashion Award will take place in the evening of 29 September 2011 in central Borås at the Auto 7H Arena. www.showupfashion.se
