Reaching for the Stars-Desert Sky Gymnastics
from February 2019
by Border Eco
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics children and youth who engage in sports develop socially and physically. Young children at an early age, who participate in gymnastics learn important social skills like listening, following directions, taking turns, being quiet, and respecting others. Also regular participation in gymnastics teaches children and youth how to live a healthy lifestyle, and remain involved in sport they grew up with. The gymnastics teachers work hard to build social skills with their students because they are so important in other aspects of the lives of the little ones. “We keep our athletes involved in the community. Our athletes collected coats for local children in need last year that we donated to the Nogales Unified School District. We also have our athletes participate in the Alzheimer’s Walk,” said Bania Hecht. For more information or to help support Desert Sky Gymnastics you can contact them at 520.761.4057 or visit the site at 2047-1 N Ocean Garden Drive. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram.
