Enrique Moreno was born in Chihuahua to his beloved parents, Enriqueta a seamstress, and Manuel, a carpenter. He attended public schools, graduated from Austin High School and graduated from Harvard University and Harvard Law School.

Enrique Moreno could have practiced law with any law firm of his choosing in any city of the world, but he choose to practice in his home town. His clients in many cases were the poor, the marginalized, and those who did not have a voice. Every client was important to him and he gave every case all of his attention. He was often referred to as "El abogado del pueblo."

When the suggestion was made to name the El Paso Courthouse in his honor, I felt an incredible amount of pride knowing one of our very one heroes was receiving this recognition. Having his name proudly featured outside the courthouse tells every young person in our community that we honor those who work hard, seek excellence in work and are proud of their heritage.

While I did not know Enrique for a long time, I feel honored to have developed a strong friendship. He served as an advisor, but more important he was a friend that I miss very much.
