WHEN YOU’RE BUYING OR SELLING PROPERT Y . . . IT HAS TO BE BSPC
BSPC People . . . who’s in-house? Each issue we get to know a BSPC professional from one of BSPC’s member firms and this week we are speaking to - Suzanne Gray from Hastings & Co Tell us about your role within Hastings & Co? I’m based in the Kelso office. I have a very varied role ranging from meeting and greeting enquirers and clients in the office, answering calls, processing photographs, producing brochures, doing viewings to valuing and bringing properties onto the market . . . A bit of everything!
How long have you worked with the firm? I have worked at Hastings since I left school over 5 years ago.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I love the variety – travelling around the Borders, visiting some fabulous properties and meeting clients. I also enjoy working along side my colleagues.
What keeps you busy when you’re not at the office? My main hobby is horse riding which takes up a lot of my time especially in the summer when I compete at various shows to hunting in the winter. I also have a Jack Russell who keeps me fit!
Where’s your favourite place in the Borders? I love riding to the top of Heatherlands Hill at Whitton near Morebattle with views ranging from the Kale Valley across to the Eildon and Lammermuir Hills.
Tell us about your home or dream home? My dream home would be a traditional detached property with character and charm, set in a lovely rural location with an avenue of trees leading up to the property and, of course stables to the side and paddocks surrounding.
What would be your ideal holiday? I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some fantastic places but Safari in South Africa is definitely one for the future.
What’s your greatest achievement? The success I have had with my horse Shradoo Star including various reserve championships.
Name two things you can’t live without? Cocktails and chocolate.
What’s your favourite Borders eatery? I don’t have a favourite as there are too many to choose from.
Who is your favourite author/ artist or designer? I love clothes so it has to be Karen Millen.
What’s playing in your car right now? I’m terrible for channel flicking so I often flick between Radio Borders and Radio 1
What natural talent would you like to have? I would love to be able to sing properly, not just in the car!
