Colombian buildings' energy efficiency is a big challenge for the local material industry. This project aims to envision improving the thermal features of construction materials to prepare them for national and international energy efficiency building standards.

Design an equipment for the measurement of thermal resistivity of construction materials.

In Context

In July 2016, the Ministry of Housing published resolution 0549 of 2015, a text with which the government seeks to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 25% through the implementation of sustainable criteria in construction. This regulation defines parameters for saving water and energy in new buildings, depending on the type of property and local weather.

This regulation now governs cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and Barranquilla.

Of the energy produced by man is consumed by buildings, and 20% of this is destined only for heating and cooling costs.

The Prototype

As a project result, we built a Hi-Fi prototype with functional features and real materials to run an evaluation and analyze their performance finishing the first developing stage of the measurement equipment.

As the world advances the amount of personal electronic devices is increasing. This project aims to improve the experience of controlling smart TVs for the European market by redefining the remote control concept.

A Complex simple task

To type a 7-letter word, the user has to press 33 times exploring arrows on a digital keyboard using a basic remote controller.

The primary input device is a normal TV remote control using arrows to select the letter one by one or move a cursor.

Emerged Oportunity

The latest technologies allow users to use their TVs as a computer with digital keyboards or integrated AI, but some user experiences become a nightmare.

All efforts to attend to covid cases required the use of specialized biomedical equipment and medical staff, which is why other patients with no critical symptoms of ARI but who also need medical attention were deprioritized.

On March 11, 2020, World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic because it had spread throughout much of Asia, Europe, and the Americas claiming thousands of lives.

MIT Emergency Ventilator

MIT’s researchers design an open-source model of the mechanical ventilator for a short-term solution in a critical care environment to have utility in helping free up existing supply or in life-or-death situations when there is no other option.

The prototype had to be built with local materials and processes to help improve the installed hospital capacity and avoid Colombia going to the same scenario as countries like Italia or Spain where the death rate was over 13.6%.

Universidad del Norte & SENA work together as a team to join forces and make a prototype of The MIT's Emergency ventilator.

The development team designed and built six prototypes according to the different local standard requirements updates.

In 2019 as a part of Basilia Denim’s management plan, I design the signage system for risk management for the main work areas in the plant.

Later in 2021 after the 2020’s lockdown for the Covid-19 pandemic, I provide another batch of signage to include in the signage system where it was included C19 warnings and care signage, and process labels for the working areas according to 6-Sixma methodology.
