HOWDY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
Letter from the Editor
Dave Nichols
From The Helm
This farout February issue of Born To Ride is stuffed with hearts and flowers, hugs and kisses, and a whole big bunch of LOVE, baby! It’s the month of love thanks to Valentine’s Day and a great time to love your life and your family each and every day. It’s also a great month to do what you love, and we’re talkin’ about ridin’ your motorcycle, brothers and sisters!
Want to spread the love along with your love of ridin’? Head on out to Thunder
By The Bay this February 17th through the 19th at Sarasota Fairgrounds. It’s the big 25th Anniversary of this lovefest and Born To Ride will bring you another killer ride-in bike show at Choppertown Live. Come on inside a feast your eyes on a cool collection of custom motorcycles by some of America’s best builders. Check out amazing airbrush artist “Letterfly” who will deliver five custom-painted bowling pins as trophies to our Choppertown Live bike show winners as well as cash and prizes galore. Special thanks to the illustrious Tony Agosto for all his help with Choppertown Live.
Ride out for Saturday’s ride-in bike show with $1,200 in cash and prizes plus the Best of Show winner will receive a photo shoot by Erick Runyon for a feature article right here in Born To Ride! Don’t forget to come out a be a part of our “Live” radio show on Boss Hogg radio on Saturday! Special thanks to James Irwin “A Biker Helping Bikers” for sponsoring Choppertown Live. Read the interview with James in this issue and find out how he can help you with retirement investing so you’ll be ridin’ on easy street. A biker himself, he loves helping out our veterans and members of the riding community.
Speaking of Thunder By The Bay, check out the story by Susan Hurst on how the Talented Lucy Nicandri put this run together 25 years ago as a way to give back and raise funds for Suncoast Charities for Children. Read all about it in this issue. What else will you find in this love laden issue? We’ll checkout al the shenanigans from last month’s Rockabillaque Florida Festival. It was the third anniversary for this classic car and vintage bike show hosted by Miss. Razen Hell! It was a full day rockabilly roundup and you can see it right here in the February issue of Born To Ride.
But wait, there’s more! You’ll also find killer coverage of Gibtown Bikefest that featured Billy Lane’s inspiring Sons of Speed vintage racers as part of Born To Ride’s Southern Fried Moto Show. It was a huge success and even the fried chicken Colonel showed up to check out all the badass bikes.
Hey, did I see Fran Haasch with Rick Flair in this issue? Yes indeed! Speakin’ of Fran, check out the personal message from our publisher Ron Galletti about an idea he has to “decide before you ride.” And that’s not all. As always, we’ll get a few laughs from Spyke & Mike, Nefarious James ponders the value of things, and learn about the 40th Anniversary of Leather & Lace. It’s a two-wheeled bonanza that comes complete with one of those heart-shaped boxes of chocolates. It’s all roarin’ your way in the February issue of Born To Ride!
