Grrl Haus Cinema is a program that provides a platform for women filmmakers and video artists. They represent a mix of local, national, and international women who create in a variety of disciplines and genres, with the sole medium being video, cinema. Although beginning as an annual event at Brattle Theatre, Grrl Haus Cinema is now an international concern, showcasing work at theaters and popups across the country and abroad. The Brattle event includes musical performances, video art installations, and local Boston vendors. A couple days later, Grrl Haus takes over at the Dorchester Art Project. That event will feature live performances from local greats Littlefoot and Electric Street Queens. With a focus on DIY, experimental, and low-budget works, there is an atmosphere that is when reminiscent of French New Wave or punk rock. 12/12 8PM & Likewise, Grrl Haus Cinema showcases 12/14 8PM underrepresented voices in an industry typically dominated by men and marketwhere ability.
