How to live a zero waste lifestyle

Rebellion is here, my trashy babies! On September 20, millions of protesters across seven continents marched to demand government action on the climate crisis - yours truly included. I suppressed fat salty tears at the Philadelphia Climate Strike, and not just because I was upset about being in Pennsylvania. I was deeply moved by the school-age protesters fighting for their wretched Delaware Valley futures, which will likely involve worsening heat waves, consumption of a meat product called “scrapple,” and regular visits to New Jersey. Bless their hearts!
Flipper with David Yow (Jesus Lizard) Don’t tell me punk is dead. That’s just an excuse WHEN: for folks who don’t wanna get up and get out 10/23 7pm anymore. There’s no doubt that the contemWHERE: porary punk scene in the US and around the Middle East world is still churning out future legends in (All Ages) the making. Look no further than a band like Boston’s Ancient Filth, whose political hardcore HOW MUCH: diatribes are resurfacing this month with a slew $20-25 of shows to confront us with ever present hard truths. Still, Boston seems to be a magnet this month for legends (some would say enigmas). Late 70’s Cali punk progenitors FLIPPER return to Boston’s Middle East on 10/23 with their gladiatorial frontman David Yow in tow. Yow’s scraggly screeching has for decades provided an outlet for those taken in by his scrawls in Scratch Acid and later the Jesus Lizard. If you missed their display at Hassle Fest 7 a couple years back, now's your time to make up lost ground. Also blessing Boston this month are Melvins w/Redd Kross @Paradise, Mike Watt w/Minibeast (ex-Mission of Burma) @ Once, and Stiff Little Fingers @BMH. Boston’s underground is still kicking but sometimes you gotta take the time to revisit those who cleared the path. At the end of the day, age is just a number. —Michael Achille
