ime to let the needle drop on some new astral additions to the world of experimental sound. The hypnotic soundscapes of some of Boston’s most eclectic practitioners join with out of town friends from Chicago to envelop us all in a cozy sonic sweater nestled inside Cambridge’s Studio 550 (leave your shoes at the door ‘cuz we’re gettin’ comfy). Bitchin Bajas craft their own galaxy out of tonal rhythms and swaying pulses pulling you deeper into a state of cathartic peace. Welcoming Where them to Boston with a new record of their own is Prone, Studio 550 whose haunting and atmospheric synths and seemingly W h e n atonal arrangements confuse and captivate. Also guiding 12/10 9pm us down our shamanic path to enlightenment is Erika C o s t Nesse, who crafts intricate yet delicate soundtracks for $12 adv atoms—minimal bursts of subtle beats that seem to be $15 day of in two places at once and send you down a whirling and endless spiral. Thankfully, here to be our big bang and thrust our spirits full throttle into the very ether that makes up this celestial showcase is Boston Typewriter Orchestra, whose wholly original and mesmerizing methods of music manifestation make marching marauders of us all. Their new album keeps us grounded in the terrestrial sphere ahead of our communal trip to the stars. As if emanating from a bright center, this is music that carries you to another plane. Come towards the light. — M IC H AE L AC H IL L E

The brain power of 70’s arena rock guitar players might be stronger than you think. Local rock star, Tom Scholz, known famously as the multi instrumentalist, songwriter and producer of the band Boston, received both his bachelor's and master’s in mechanical engineering from MIT. He is recognized as a pioneer in home recording, as most of Boston’s self-titled multi-platinum first album were recorded in his basement. After Boston’s peak, Scholz went on to start the effects pedal company Rockman. Not to be outdone is Brian May of Queen, who in 2007 completed his PhD in astrophysics with his thesis “A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud.” Brian began his studies in the 70’s but had to take a break due to success of Queen, how cool is that? Zach plays guitar in a band called Throbbing Chakra, and lives in Philly with his girlfriend Christina and dog snowflake. Christina does the drawings. Email him zacharyfairbrother@gmail.com or listen throbbingchakra1.bandcamp.com. twitter/insta @avantlard
If you get in a fight on the Internet, you can usually just win by writing: "Do you hear that? It's like a clicking...? Oh! I know! It's the sound of people screencap ping your Tinder profile so they can send it to their f r i e n d s and laff!"

take Ambien, a prescription sleep medication, recreationally and stay "awake," entering a hallucinogenic dream state and blurting out non-sequiturs in response to the intense visuals. Now that you've sobered up, you can employ Sleepy Time tea, ingested at an early hour: the experience is wholly different but in a state of deep relaxation weird shit still comes out of your mouth.
