Baseball The Club Baseball team ended on a strong note this fall season, finishing with a 7-1 overall record (5-1 in conference). The Eagles started the season with an out-of-conference twogame sweep over Harvard, before beginning conference play. Hosting Sacred Heart University, the Eagles took two out of three. The team then went on to sweep SUNY Albany in a three-game series. After losing a number of impact players this off-season, the Eagles added eleven new members to the roster, including freshman phenoms Tim Healy and Tom Moschella. However, the true standout performances came from the veterans of the squad. Leading the way offensively were Zach Pessia, batting .500, and Brett Layman, batting .474. On the defensive side, Jack Patrina and Colin O’Neill made impressive contributions on the field. With the winter ahead, the Eagles look forward to getting ready for a successful spring. Sitting at second in the standings, the Eagles have their eyes set on taking down conference foes Northeastern, UConn, and UMass to repeat with another first place finish in the North Atlantic - North Division. The team bids farewell to Juniors Cam Miller and Nick Sansone who will be across the pond this spring studying abroad in Europe.
7-1 Overall Record Currently 2nd Place in the NCBA North Atlantic North Division 3
Men’s Basketball
The Men’s Club Basketball team had a phenomenal fall semester. The team began the season by adding four freshmen, one sophomore, and one junior who have all been key pieces to this year’s team. A family-style barbecue kicked off the season with some cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and quality conversation. Practices began in late September and the boys have been rolling ever since. Newly hired coach Andrew Lutz implemented a new style of play that better accommodates this year’s roster. The team started the season with two thrilling wins at home against Boston University and Union College. Both of these wins were a result of come-back efforts led by seniors Jeff Toomey, Evan Palmer, Jordan Barros, and Andrew Mayleben. Adding on to a hot start, the team won its first three conference games and remain atop the league with an undefeated conference record. The team looks forward to continuing its success next semester when the majority of conference play takes place. They hope to achieve their goals of winning a Conference Championship as well as a National Championship. Peace, Love, Ball is the year’s team motto, and the boys pride themselves on their efforts both on and off the court. This semester’s off-court highlights include tremendous success in the classroom, quality time with both Women’s Club Soccer and Volleyball, team runs around the res, team dinners at Eagles Deli, and running the annual Welles Crowther 5K. Overall, it was a fantastic semester for the team, and they look forward to having an even better semester come spring 2019. 4
Women’s Basketball
2018 BU Northeast Regional Tournament Champions Women's Club Basketball had a very successful fall semester. With a Overall Record: 12-1 new coach and a talented squad, they were ready to work hard and win BU Tournament games. After a loss to Northeastern in the first game of the season, the girls re-grouped and have not lost a game since. The team notched a Awards: strong first win over Harvard University. They then competed in the Brown University tournament and continued their winning streak Most Valuable Player beating Providence College, UConn, and BU. They reached the finals Olivia Heffernan ‘19 and beat UConn again to become the Brown Tournament champions. This tournament was followed by another two wins against UMass All Tournament Team Lowell. The girls finished off the semester competing in the Boston Kayla Kaloostian ‘22 University Northeast Regional Championship. They came out hot once again, finishing pool play 3-0 with wins over Syracuse, Villanova, and BU. They were then seeded #1 moving into the playoffs, where they beat Villanova in the semifinals and Vermont in the finals to become the BU Regional Champions. This spring, they are looking forward to participating in NIRSA Club Basketball league. On top of league play, they will be competing in 2-3 tournaments against various teams in the Northeast, with their ultimate goal of attending the National Tournament at Wichita State University in Kansas this April. With a strong first half of the season, they are excited to continue in the spring. 5
Men’s Crew Head of the Charles Results: Collegiate 8+ - 7th/35 Collegiate 4+ 24th/40 Club 8+ 23rd/36 Club 4+ 31st/55
Men’s Crew had a great fall season with impressive results in their two biggest races of the fall season, the Head of the Charles and the Foot of the Charles. In late October, the team raced through unfavorable weather at the 54th Head of the Charles Regatta. They were fortunate to have two eights and two fours compete, along with two alumni eights. Against competition from all over the world, the Eagles had a strong showing out on the water. This was highlighted by the Varsity 8+, which finished 7th out of 35 boats in the Collegiate 8+ event, which is the highest in team history! A few weeks later, the team returned to the Charles to take part in the Foot of the Charles. This race is much smaller than the Head of the Charles and only features BC, BU, Northeastern, MIT, Harvard, and Brown. Because there are fewer schools represented, the Eagles were able to have almost the entire team race. It was a great opportunity for the team to test their speed against competition from other top programs in the Northeast. The team is now transitioning from the fall season into winter training. Under second-year Head Coach Alex Dillon, Novice Coach Trevor Appier, and Assistant Nick Guida, the team looks forward to putting in hard work throughout winter training that will translate to speed on the water for their spring sprinting season.

Cycling
Attended the Team’s First Cyclocross Race in Harvard,
The Club Cycling team had yet another successful fall semester. At the team’s first race at Thunder Mountain Bike Park in Western Massachusetts Sophomore Bryan Kim and Freshman Mike Constas participated in the Men's C race and Junior Andrew Theall represented Boston College solo in the Men's B race. The club also accomplished a new milestone, taking on their first cyclocross race in the Fruitlands Cup of Cyclocross in Harvard, Massachusetts where law students John Jameson and Keith Kaminski participated in this memorable event. Furthermore, the club frequently organizes group riding sessions on the weekends for road cyclists to train or get some miles in outside of the spin room. These riding sessions are no-drop, ensuring that everyone will start and finish together. Some of the destinations the team rides to include Dover, Massachusetts and Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. The club looks forward to the spring semester where they will compete in road races which will bring more members out to participate in the various races across the Northeast. 7
Equestrian
Fall 2018 was Club Equestrian’s best semester yet! They began this season by holding tryouts and adding six new members from the class of 2022 to their team. They had weekly lessons at their home barn, Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center, in Grafton, MA, with their coach Sheila. The show team kicked off their fall show semester with back-to-back wins during a doubleheader weekend in October! They also won the first day of their second doubleheader in November. They went on to place in the top four teams in their other three shows over the season, one of which they hosted in November at their home barn, Hillside Meadows. They had five team members qualify for Regionals in the spring, and are currently leading the region with the most points! They had a great season off the horses as well, holding many pizza and pasta nights, movie nights, and a holiday gift exchange. They are very excited for the spring semester and show season. BCET will continue to practice and compete in two more shows before the postseason begins. They hope to qualify even more riders for Regionals, and have Regional riders place well enough to advance to Zones!

Field Hockey
The Club Field Hockey team finished out the 2018 regular season with a strong 10-1 record. After a quick turnaround between the start of the semester and tryouts, the team welcomed eight new players to the squad. After not qualifying for Nationals during the 2017 season, the Eagles were determined to make it back to Virginia Beach. The team started off the season with a bang going undefeated against Sacred Heart, Harvard, UConn, and Stonehill College during the month of September. With seven away games, this season was filled with road trips and Missy Elliot Lip Gloss sing-alongs. Season highlights include 6-0 victories over Fairfield and Dartmouth with sophomore Izzy Howe contributing a hat trick to the latter. The team also saw clear improvement over the season. After facing UVM and finishing 1-0 in early October, the Eagles went on to beat them 4-0 later in the season. Additionally, the team only fell in a hard fought battle against rival Northeastern. After a successful regular season, the team spent their November preparing for postseason play. They went on to compete at the NFHL Nationals tournament in Virginia Beach where they faced opponents such as Penn State and UNC. After finishing second in pool play, the squad made it to championship bracket where they finished amongst the top eight teams nationally. The Eagles are looking to keep this season’s momentum going and to hit the ground running in the fall of 2019!
Regular Season Record: 10-1
Attended the NFHL National Championship 9
Figure Skating
This semester, Club Figure Skating has been working hard on choreographing a new program and getting ready for the Terry Conner's Synchronized Skating Classic that kicked off the season. The competition took place on Sunday, December 2nd and the team finished in 6th place. Terry Conner’s gave the team the chance to compete against many of the same teams they will see again at the Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Competition in February. The team will take the judges’ critiques and work towards perfecting the new choreography. The team is looking forward to returning to campus early in January for training week to prepare for next semester and the Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Competition, where they hope to move up in the ranks. The team will close out their season in late February with the Connecticut Classic Synchronized Skating Competition.

Golf
The 2018-2019 Club Golf season began with tryouts at Newton Commonwealth Golf Course in early September. 12 new talented underclassmen and upperclassmen were selected to join 22 veteran club members. Although the upcoming fall schedule only featured three total tournaments (Regionals in September and October and the Beanpot in early November), these tournaments were full of important implications. For one, the team was about to match up against familiar rivals. Secondly, the team was fairly new and therefore had little experience in college golf competition. This lack of experience came to light in both regionals this fall. At the first, The New England Regional at Crestview Country Club in Agawam, MA, BC finished 7th out of the 11 competing teams. In the other New England Regional, BC fell to Providence in Onset, MA at The Bay Pointe Club. While the team was disappointed by their results in the Regionals this fall, the team kept its focus on the Beanpot Tournament, which was set for early November at Putterham Golf Course in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles came out firing with good team scores from Freshmen Mitchell/Madden who shot a 65 and Houck/Brooks who shot a 68. Club Veterans Blanchard and Guma shot a 70 to help round out the total to a 203, which put BC first in the tournament. Paul Blanchard also had a hole-in-one during the tournament, which was the first for the team in a while. Overall, this resulted in a great end to the fall season. It helped the team forget about their early struggles and gave them the confidence that they will be ready for competition again in the spring.
2018 Beanpot Tournament Champions 11
Men’s Ice Hockey Men’s Club Ice Hockey had a great fall season. Jumping out to an 11-3-1 start, they are currently ranked third in the ACHA Northeast Region. Some highlights of the season include big wins over UMassAmherst, Northeastern, and RPI, who are currently the first, second and fourth ranked teams in the region, respectively. The team is anchored by sophomore goalie Adin Farhat who has had a fantastic season in the net so far. With a shutout against St. Anselm and a tremendous effort against UMassAmherst, Farhat has proven to be a pivotal part of the success of the team this season. The defense is led by captain Michael Saleski and seniors Graham Soman and Thomas Fitzgibbons, providing a strong back line in front of Farhat. The highpowered offense, which has recorded 4 or more goals in 10 of their 15 games, is led by the line of Schuhwerk (‘20), Vicari (‘20), and Mastrogiacomo (‘19). The team looks to continue their success in the second semester as they prepare for tough games against the University of Texas-Austin, Denver University, and BU at the National Tournament in Dallas this spring.

Women’s Ice Hockey
Overall Record: 8-1-1 IWCHL Ranking: 1st ACHA D2 East Ranking: 3rd
The Women’s Club Ice Hockey team wrapped up their first semester of competition with a record of 8-1-1. They started the season strong, coming off of an undefeated spring 2018 semester, and carried that trend throughout much of this fall. The team celebrated large wins against competitors such as UConn, Westfield State, UNH, Merrimack, BU, and St. Anselm. In their home game at Conte Forum, the team showcased their offensive skills against BU in an impressive 9-0 win. The Conte game was a great way to celebrate their seniors, Isabella Crawford (C), Grace Liggett (C), Kathleen McNamara, Claire Mills, and Izzy Nolan (C). Despite a tough loss to Northeastern in November, the team remains proudly ranked as #3 on the East Region in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). On a regional level, the team is currently ranked as #1 in the Independent Women’s Collegiate Hockey League (IWCHL). BCWCIH has continued their tradition of working hard both on and off of the ice, and they volunteer weekly through ‘Learn to Skate’ with the Belmont Youth Hockey Program. Looking forward, the team is excited to pick back up next semester and continue on the track to secure another bid to the ACHA National Tournament in March. 13
Women’s Lacrosse The Women’s Club Lacrosse team had a terrific fall, gearing up for what looks to be a successful spring season. The team held tryouts in midSeptember, welcoming six new players to complete the roster of 31. These new players are expected to round out the skill, speed, and strategy of the Eagles. The team competed in two “Fall Ball” tournaments – one at the University of Connecticut and the other at UMass Amherst. The team got exposure to this year’s level of league competition through these off-season games, playing other NEWLL teams such as UMass, UConn, Northeastern, and URI. Additionally, BCWCL has been practicing twice per week, honing in on stick skills, team play, and game-like scenarios. The team was proud to volunteer and run in the Welles Remy Crowther Red Bandanna 5K Run in October and has also been working extensively on its fundraising initiatives this fall. The team has worked concessions for several BC Athletics basketball and hockey games asl well as coordinated fundraising events at nearby establishments, Chipotle and White Mountain Creamery. The team is now finalizing its spring competition schedule and hopes to see plenty of fans on the sidelines for their games next semester!

Men’s Rugby
Finished 3rd in the New England Liberty Conference After a preseason win against Ivy League stalwart Yale University, the boys opened league play against an upand-coming URI squad, but defeated them comfortably 49-7. After rattling off a dominating victory against cross-town rival Northeastern, BCRFC fought in muddy conditions against a tough UCONN squad and came out on top 10-8. In a statement game the weekend before their toughest opponent in UMass Amherst, the Eagles put up 55 against a struggling Tufts opponent. The battle for first in the New England division came on a cold, rainy, windy night against the UMass Minutemen. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t convert tough opportunities and struggled to run their game plan in the conditions. They ultimately fell to their toughest competition 24-7. The final game of the season snuck up on the squad and they went down early against Fairfield University. They rallied with 19 unanswered points only to lose 33-31 at the final whistle. Club Rugby’s B side also had a great year, ending 3-2 and showing some real promise both individually and as a team. While the season ended on a low note, stars emerged throughout the year. Senior and President Noah Hopkins ended the year with a team-leading 7 tries, although competing Senior and Captain Henry Menn won’t let you forget he was hot on Noah’s heels with 5 of his own. Led by coaches Rob Conway, Kareem Afifi, & Patrick Rockwell, it was still a successful season for the Eagles. Also, congrats to Kareem and Connor Robinson (’21) on representing BC with the local Major League Rugby team, the New England Free Jacks! The Men’s Rugby Club used the 2018 Fall season to grow as a club at the national level. After a 2017 campaign where they were recovering from graduating a majority of the team, the 2018 team featured veteran talents as well as several young stars that led BCRFC to a 5-2 record, ultimately ending the season 3rd in the New England Liberty Conference Division.
Final Record: 5-2 Try Leaders: Noah Hopkins (‘19) - 7 Henry Menn (‘19) - 5 Jeffrey Thomas (‘19) - 5 Conversions: Riley Curtin (‘20) - 10 15
Women’s Rugby
This was a very formative season for the Women’s Rugby Club. The team nearly doubled in size, gaining more than 20 new members. It was a challenge having so many new members with little to no experience playing rugby, but the rookies quickly picked up the sport and proved to be integral players on the field. New and old members were thrilled to be able to practice on the brand new grass field on Brighton Campus. In their first match of the season, BC lost to Northeastern 67-5. The following weekend, the BC ruggers were extremely excited to host their first home game in over a year against UConn on the Newton Soccer field. UConn beat BC 70-0 in a very wellplayed match. Over Columbus Day weekend, the Eagles played an amazing game against UMass Amherst and crushed them 30-17. In their fourth and final regular season match of the season, BC lost to BU in Alumni Stadium. The score of the match was 50-29. In the playoffs, BC had an extremely hard fought match against Boston University but sadly lost, 78-10. Overall, the Eagles came in fourth in the Northeast Division I conference. Now that many of the rookies have experience playing rugby, the BC ruggers are excited to hopefully dominate the Beast of the East tournament this spring.
Finished 4th in the Northeast Division I Conference 16

NIRCA Nationals 2018: Women: 7th Overall Men: 24th Overall
Club Running was founded as the student organization “WeRunBC” in 2012 and transitioned into a Club Sport in 2018. They have loved the opportunity to race competitively against other college teams and improve both as a team and individually. They continue to provide recreational and competitive runners at Boston College with an outlet in which they can achieve their running goals while also fostering a supportive network of friends. Club Running had a very successful first season. At their first cross country meet, the Codfish Bowl, the men’s team placed 2nd overall and the women’s team placed 4th overall against a large field of runners at Franklin Park, Massachusetts. In their next meet, the Harvard Invitational, both teams placed 2nd overall despite a difficult trail course. At the Princeton Invitational in New Jersey, the women placed 2nd and the men placed 4th as many personal records were broken on this fast course. They then traveled to New York to participate in the NIRCA Northeast Regional meet, where they battled not only other Northeast teams, but also a Nor’easter storm that rendered the course one of the most challenging that they had ever faced. Despite the conditions, the men’s team came in 5th, and the women’s team won the meet! Both teams qualified for the NIRCA National Championship race, in Lexington, Kentucky. They had an amazing end to their inaugural season at the Nationals race, with the women’s team placing 7th overall and the men’s team placing 24th. In particular, Club President Christina LaRitz helped to lead the women’s team by placing 6th overall at Nationals and gaining First Team AllAmerican honors. The team is very excited to have had such a fun and successful first season and looks forward to their track season next semester!

Men’s Soccer The Men's Club Soccer Team had yet another incredibly successful season. Expectations were high after last season’s Regional Championship win and Nationals appearance. The team started the season with a statement 70 win over Clark University that brought much promise for the season ahead. However, after a few ties in the middle of the season, the team found itself in a tough position, needing wins against rivals Boston University and Northeastern in its last two games of the season in order to qualify for regionals. The team delivered in front of the packed stands of Alumni Stadium against BU with a convincing 5-0 victory. On the last game of the season, the team still needed to come up with a win against the first place Northeastern squad. Once again, the team succeeded, coming up with a big 1-0 victory on Northeastern's turf to preserve their undefeated record (7-0-3) and finish with the most points in the Conference. At the Regional Tournament, the team beat WPI, but was eventually eliminated on penalty kicks. Despite the disappointing end to the season, the team was very proud of their play this year. They finished regular season play with an undefeated record for the 3rd season in a row. The defense was outstanding this season, providing 7 shutouts. Overall, BCFC finished as the 7th best team in the region, and will be looking to build on this success next season.
Undefeated Regular Season (7-0-3) 18
Women’s Soccer Despite some rough weather, overnight plane delays, and a cancelled game or two, BCWCS proceeded to have an incredibly successful season. The team finished with an impressive regular season record of 9-0-1 with one hard-fought Tuesday night tie against Northeastern. The girls also clinched their league with a notable 3-0 win against long-time rival Boston University, sending them to the Regional tournament in New Castle, Delaware. While BCWCS went into the tournament with a #3 seed, bad weather cancelled all games for the first day. Other teams, such as Men’s Club Soccer, were forced to decide who advanced through grueling rounds of penalty kicks. Due to their high seed BCWCS was able to automatically advance to the second day, where they tied 1-1 but consequently lost in penalty kicks. Though it was a disappointing showing at Regionals, the girls received a bid to play in the open bracket at the NIRSA National Tournament in Foley, Alabama. With two big wins against Colorado Springs and Kennesaw State on the first day, the team went into the second day of the tournament with a big game against USC to determine who advanced out of group play. A 1-1 tie put BCWCS with a one-point goal differential lead over USC, moving them on to the quarterfinals in search of revenge against SDSU, who eliminated them from the National Tournament in 2016. An intense and physical game under the lights unfortunately ended 2-1, SDSU. Though it wasn’t the optimal result, the team was so proud of what they accomplished in Foley, and their six seniors (Kate Paterson, Mimi Burns, Mika Chesnutt, Christina Jennings, Annie Sheehan, and Caitlin Keenan) were able to leave it all on the field for their last game of what was an amazing fall season!
Undefeated Regular Season (9-0-1); NIRSA Divisional Champions 19
Men’s Squash The 2018-2019 Men's Club Squash season began with terrific tryouts that featured three rounds of very intense competition and led to adding five new players to the roster. After tryouts, practices began right away. The team is practicing at Fessenden Preparatory School this year, which is a change from past years of practicing at Boston Sports Club. Fessenden offers the unique chance to practice on four squash courts. The first match of the season took place at MIT as the Eagles took on MIT's Varsity Squash program. MIT was very strong and defeated them 9-0. The second match of the season was an away match at BU. The Eagles were missing two key players due to injury, though everyone stepped up in their absence and played well. Despite the valiant effort, they unfortunately lost 6-3 to BU. However, they are confident that a rematch later this year, when they are back at full strength, will see BC to be victorious. Their next match was an away match against Northeastern. Once again, two key players were out due to injury. Everyone played hard, but they suffered their third loss of the season 8-1. The team was very upset by this defeat and extremely motivated to succeed going forward. After a few terrific practices, they traveled to Vassar College to participate in a round robin. The team was determined to find a way to win without their injured players. The first match of the weekend was against the host of the round robin and new varsity program, Vassar College. This time, the Eagles recorded a massive 9-0 victory. They then followed this up with their best squash of the season and an impressive 8-1 win against Colgate. Second semester will be very busy for the BC Men's Club Squash team with the ACC Championship at the University of Virginia and the National Championship at Yale, but they can’t wait to continue the action.

table tennis
Boston College Club Table Tennis’ Inaugural Season The newly established Club Table Tennis team had a very successful first semester with a team of 26 passionate and talented members. There was overwhelming interest in the sport from the student-body which led to a big turnout at the Club Table Tennis tryouts. The team went on to have action-packed weekly practices with intense training drills and exercises. The competition team had 12 members, all of whom worked hard over the semester in order to prepare for and compete in the NCTTA Upper New England Divisional tournament, which took place at Harvard University. The co-ed team performed exceedingly well, beating teams from Harvard, MIT and Dartmouth. The girls’ team also performed exceptionally well, making a big splash at the divisional tournament. The results of the first tournament have put the team in a great position to advance to Regionals in March. The team not only excelled in competition play, but also showed great sportsmanship and teamwork. Most importantly, many of the members formed long-lasting relationships. With a dedicated and talented team who all love playing table tennis, the club is on track for a very successful future.

Men’s Ultimate Frisbee The fall semester was a very productive developmental season for the Men’s Club Ultimate Frisbee team in gearing up towards what promises to be a strong regular season in the spring. The team returned 21 players from last year and has brought up 14 rookies. The season kicked off with a team-led trip out to Camp Becket in Becket, Massachusetts. The team stayed together in cabins while developing their frisbee skill set with 5 hours of practice each day. There was also a good amount of down-time for the rookies and upperclassmen to get to know each other better. Overall, it was a great team bonding experience. In October, the team attended two New England area tournaments. At the tournament at Brandeis University, the team split into two separate teams and both teams went on to have undefeated runs in this tournament that included Harvard, Brandeis, Bates, and UMass Lowell. At the Lobster Pot tournament, right outside of Portland, Maine, the team split into an returner-team and a rookie-team. The split was important for the development of the team as all players received a lot of playing time in a competitive game setting. The returner-team had a successful 4-2 record on the weekend including a huge victory against rival Northeastern. While the rookie-team did not experience that level of success with their results, the players certainly gained a lot of useful experience in preparation for the spring season. From the start of tryouts until the last practice of the semester, the team has developed leaps and bounds from where it started because of the competitive nature of the team. 22
Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Women’s Club Ultimate Frisbee started off the fall semester recruiting new members, expanding their roster by 35 players. Practices were spent teaching the fundamentals of Ultimate to the rookies, while also giving returners a chance to strengthen their skills for the competitive season ahead. The fall season was highly centered on development both at practices and the three tournaments the Flix attended throughout the semester. Competing as one team, they traveled to Rhode Island, UMass Amherst, and New Hampshire, applying the skills they had learned in practices and further developing their understanding of the game in a fun and competitive way. Each tournament strengthened the team’s ability to work together and grow from mistakes and helped build team chemistry both on and off the field. Overall, it was an awesome season filled with wins, losses, and a greater love for the sport. They closed out the fall semester with 4 wins overall. The Flix have now split into A and B teams and are learning new skills to bring into the competitive spring semester. Both teams look forward to continuing to grow together and have the most successful season yet.

Men’s Volleyball
The Men’s Club Volleyball team is coming off one of their best seasons in school history, and they are looking to continue their success in their spring season. After finishing 25th at last year’s national tournament in St. Louis, the team is coming into next semester’s regular season nationally ranked. Tryouts took place three weeks into school, and the team added four freshmen to their upperclassmenheavy roster. The team will be missing one junior abroad in the spring, followed by the graduation of seven seniors at the end of the semester. As a result of many players playing in their final season, expect this team to play with determination this spring in order to make the gold bracket for nationals. This year, the tournament will be in Denver, Colorado, and the boys are hungry to make the upper bracket for the second year in a row. The team has been practicing every Monday and Wednesday for the past three months, and the chemistry between players has been growing as everyone gets back into playing form. To start the school year, the boys participated in the annual UCLA pre-season tournament over Halloween weekend, where BC was the only East Coast team represented. The team started strong, taking down the host school in 3 sets. However, they finished in the middle of the pack after not making the playoffs. In November, the team traveled to Boston University to play in the last pre-season tournament of the first semester. There, the boys played a mix of college and adult league teams, many of which they will take on during the second semester season. Look for the team to step it up in their spring season, as they are excited to represent the school and themselves across New England. 24
Women’s Volleyball Once again, the Women’s Club Volleyball Team had a very successful semester! They had seven new girls join the team, composed of two sophomores and five freshmen. Their first tournament of the semester was at the University of Connecticut. They were ranked first in their pool and played against Siena, Rutgers, Fairfield, and Harvard. They were able to use this tournament to test out new lineups and figure out what works for them. When it came time for playoffs, they were extremely ready to go up against the best teams in the tournament, and defeated Northeastern in the finals! It was a great way to start off the semester. Their next tournament took place at UMass Amherst. After cruising through pool play, the team played RIT in the semifinals of playoffs. This win put the Eagles in a very familiar place, again playing Northeastern in the finals. The final was just 1 game to 30, and after being down 24-17 and running out of subs, they rallied together and pulled out the win! The last tournament of the semester was at University of New Hampshire. They played Vermont, SNHU, and UMass-Lowell in pool play, easily handling each game. Their first round of playoffs was against UNH, which they won 25-23, 25-18. In keeping with playing fellow Boston teams in the finals, they faced off against BU. It was an incredibly close and hard fought match, but the Eagles fell 17-15 in the third set. The Eagles are currently ranked 1st in the NWVCL based on points average and 8th in overall points. We are wishing good luck to our juniors Liz, Erin, Aileen, and Grace as they prepare for their semesters abroad, and we can’t wait for Allie to return from Rome!

Men’s Water Polo Men’s Club Water Polo finished their 2018 regular season with an impressive 11-0 record, outscoring opponents in division play by a margin of 145-64. After dominating the preliminary tournaments at Dartmouth and Yale, the Eagles entered the New England Division Championships as the top seed, cruising to a rematch versus BU in the 1st Place game. In front of 250-plus fans, the Birds defended the New England Division crown with a 10-7 victory over their Comm Ave. rivals and secured a spot in the Collegiate Water Polo Association National Championships for the 4th time in the last 5 years. At Nationals, hosted by the University of Arizona, the Eagles dropped a close game to Cal before going on to win three hard-fought games. First, the Eagles took care of Virginia Tech, buoyed by the 4-goal effort of Michael Spence (’20). Next, the Birds defeated Villanova, with Hart Ayoob (’20) saving 8 shots in net. Finally, the Eagles beat Florida, with captain Thomas Savage (’19) recording a hat trick. The CWPA recognized the three as the respective Player-of-theGame in each game for their stand-out performances. Under the leadership of captains Savage and Colin Derdeyn (’19), the Eagles finished the season with a record of 14-1, returning to Boston ranked 9th in the Nation. Luke Twardowski (’19), Scott Singer (’19), and Duncan Rowland (’19) contributed playing time and senior guidance, while Daniel Walsh (’20) and Filip Filipovic (’20) continued to see valuable time in the pool. In net, the team operated a goalie platoon between Ayoob and Tyler Dubiel (’20). While the graduating class will be a considerable loss, the future remains bright, with underclassmen Omar John (’21), Andrew Wilson (’21), Jack Klingler (’22), and Carter Dwyer (’22) all adding unique skills and critical time in the water.

Women’s Water Polo
As the fall off-season comes to a close, Women’s Club Water Polo looks back on a great few months. After last year’s undefeated regular season followed by the capture of the New England Championship and an 8th place finish at Nationals, the highest-placed finish in program history, the team returned to campus with new levels of energy and enthusiasm. Tryouts in early September brought great talent to the pool. In her third year as head coach, Hannah Grotzinger selected six new Eagles to join the squad. A full roster of 23 players has been finalized for the 2018-2019 season. Practices consisted of great amounts of conditioning and skill-building. Eager to apply that hard work to game situations, the lady Eagles traveled to BU and MIT for a few scrimmages. They worked on playing as a unified team and saw ways in which they can improve their game going into their spring season. BCWWP is looking forward to competing to defend their title of New England Champions. The freshmen are excited to play their first games as Eagles and the seniors are ready to make the most of their last chance to bring the team to Nationals. BCWWP is back, bigger and better than ever! 27
