Rising star left paralysed after knife attack - Shocking Photo Released Family of Oliver Hemsley; former Hills road sixth form college student, have published photos of when he was brutally attacked. The attack occurred last August when ‘Olibop’ was walking with his flatmate in Shoreditch, he was stabbed 8 times by a gang of youths, and slumped on the ground with blood pouring from him. The stab wounds where mainly to his lungs and heart but when he was rushed to hospital by the air ambulance it was found that he had also been knifed in the neck. This led to an infection of the spinal cord which later spread to his brain.

Oliver, now 21 went into a coma following his injuries,

doctors feared he would suffer brain damage. But, since he has regained consciousness, again he has come off of the ventilator ( in January), and although he is paralysed from his neck down doctors say he has made an miraculous recovery. Oliver's brother ‘Will’, said he looked like a ‘watering can’ because of the blood. Will has organised a charity bike ride from London to the French Alps to raise money for spinal injuries. This 600 mile bike ride ‘Ride2Recovery’ will take place in May over a six day period and is aimed to raise awareness about knife crime. The fundraising team said, “ Knife crime is not confined to gang culture and there are many innocent victims each year”

The photo that Oliver’s family is publishing to help fight knife crime.

Will , and a group of his friends, have already raised £12,000 for Spinal – cord charities . And they are hoping to raise much more closer to the time. One of Oliver’s attackers, 16 appeared at the Crown Court today, he has pleaded guilty of causing grievous bodily harm; having an offensive weapon and he has also two other charges from the youth court of robbery and common assault. Oliver’s family has decided to publish the photo of Oli in hospital on life support. They hope that the photo will scare people into sense and reduce knife crime. Infamous Michael Jackson has recently announced his last tour in the O2 arena, the so-called undisputed king of pop is selling 657 tickets a minute, that’s 11 a second! He’s sold 750,000 so far and counting; ticket master has sold out but come remain at the Viagogo website. We wonder if he’s fit enough to perform at the O2 for such a long time, and if his health is going to get in the way. In his short press conference he told his fans this was his last tour in London, and that was just about all he said really, 4 minutes on stage and about 50 spoken words then he was off again. The reason I think it was so crowded is because there was an X-factor show shortly after the conference, and people just wanted a picture of him. Bog-standard tickets can cost up to £300, VIP tickets can go for £1,500. Some people have been buying tickets then selling them on eBay for over £3000, Who can afford to pay that much? How much would you pay?

I don't believe anyone can want to pay that much money to see the undisputed (now disputed) so called king of pop lip-sing his old classics on stage. I also don't think he’s fit enough to keep up with his old thriller routine for over his 50 shows he’s promised to do in the O2 arena. His fans will be expecting the young Michael Jackson, but we must remember he is 50 years old, and not what he used to be. I think fans are to expect a slower, older and less entertaining Jackson. There have also been some rumours about his money problems, with an “amicable settlement” with the King of Bahrain’s son, who is suing him for £4.7 million. also regarding his “neverland” ranch which was about to be auctioned off if he failed to pay £12.5 million. In short, hes broke, and needs some money, and this tour was the easiest way for the pop-star to get money.

I would go to the concert just to see how he does, and how he copes, I’m intrigued by how long he will last on tour..

Our Nation’s News: During the 3 years till March 2008 , 400 people died unnecessarily at a Staffordshire hospital due to atrocious care for patients in A&E.

The report revealed that there was something lacking at every stage of emergency care and blamed ‘poor ,abysmal management’ for the bad conditions and many deaths.

The healthcare commission report said that the managers of Mid Staffordshire NHS foundation trust were so fixated on ruthlessly meeting targets that they did not even try to correct the horrendous mistakes occurring in the A&E department.

The HC’s report also illuminated the lack of training in the emergency assessment units where nurses turned off cardiac monitors as they were unable to read them, patients did not get the right medication and call buttons often went un-answered leaving patients in soiled sheets or in copious amounts of pain with no relief.

The report found that patients arriving in A&E were assessed by untrained receptionists ,a patient with an open fracture covered in blood had to wait more than 4 hours for treatment with out pain medication. The report also concluded that junior doctors were badly supervised leading to mistakes and to few consultants were on call. In 2006 –07 the trust set it self a target :Saving £10 million . To achieve this, over 150 jobs were cut including the nurses. The trust had already got relatively low levels of staff. A year after this the commission found that the entire hospital needed another 120 nurses, 77 for the medical wards. Delays in operations were common they could be cancelled for up to 4 days in a row.

Five people have been charged after disturbances in the Holyland student area of south Belfast‌... The trouble started on Tuesday afternoon when police moved in to clear people who had gathered on a street during St Patrick's Day celebrations. Superintendent Chris Noble they took action when they came under attack. "The response was proportionate, it was fair and residents were complimentary," he said. Nineteen arrests were made, and eight people subsequently released. Noble said those detained were "idiots". "The initial indications are that a lot of the individuals had consumed a significant amount of alcohol in a limited period of time," he said. Noble said not all those arrested were students, however south Belfast MP Alasdair McDonnell said the universities had to act against those who did get into trouble. "The two universities and Belfast Metropolitan College must take a

very harsh line with people who behave like this," he said. "They have absolutely no right to behave like this. The way they treat the local people, the way they treat the people who try to live side-byside with them is outrageous and cannot, and will not, be tolerated." Student residents insisted that a small minority were involved in the violence. Both universities were part of the trouble. the University of Ulsters, Alistair Adair, said he was "appalled by the mayhem and disorder". "This was alcohol-fuelled, by and large," he said. "It may be that we have to take measures such as alcohol disorder zones as they have in England, where on certain days at certain times alcohol is prohibited." Vice-Chancellor of Queens University, Gerry McCormac, said although no student had yet been ex-

pelled for bad behaviour, it remained an option open to the university. "There've been 200 students disciplined this year. One hundred and fifty of those have been warned, 50 fined severely," he said. "We have expulsion on our books as an option, we go through a disciplinary process and if expulsion is the punishment that's required for a certain behaviour, we won't hesitate from using that. Most of these quotes were because of students from the schools being involved in the violence and some of them being arrested. The Police will now take further action on those students and adults arrested in the outbreak. Connor Burr BVC News‌...

WEIRD AND WONDERFUL NEWS HEADLINES DIDDY DINOSAUR DISCOVERED! The smallest meateating dinosaur to ever be found in NorthAmerica has been identified as a hesperonychus. It was identified from 6 tiny pelvic bones. The tiny dino was misidentified as a lizard for 25 years. This dinosaur was the size of a small chicken, (which is a lot smaller than the famous T-rex!) Experts say that it used its rows of serrated teeth to feed on insects. This helped scientists to confirm that it was in fact not mammals that filled the roles of small predators during the dinosaur age but these dinky dinosaurs and other species like them. The mini dinosaur is closely related to a tiny feathered dinosaur discovered in China called a microtaptor and belongs to a group called the therepods which were reptiles that eventually evolved into birds! However, despite the discovery of very well preserved skeletons of creatures

like these in Asia, this type of specimen is very rare in North America. Palaeontologist Dr Phillip Curie has been pondering why so few small bones have been found in Alberta, Canada - one of the world’s richest sites for large dinosaur bones. Now it is suspected that small dinosaurs didn’t survive well due to the larger predators. The dinosaur pelvis came from an animal weighing no more than 1.9 kg (4.2 lb) which is about the same as a small cat. This discovery is said to also help the debate of whether flight originated from land animals flapping their arms or tree climbing animals gliding downwards (or falling out of the tree!). Because of the positioning of the bones scientists know that this dinosaur was a tree climbing creature and it was likely that it used the long feathers on its limbs to glide or parachute from tree to tree.
