We wear, we attract, we love, and we create.
We create because we love - love to express our love (our preferences) of identity (ones we personally love). A love of Identity that continues the cycle of finding love, making love, creating love… Remember when you first fell in love? Had a crush, a fling, an affair? Those feelings you get, the excitement, the sickness, and the anticipation. Sometimes our loves are short-lived and sometimes continuous.
Sometimes we have to stand back from what we love to really appreciate it and see the qualities we fell madly in love with or what made us love in the first place. You can’t say take it slow, let it grow, as it’s that burning passion and excitement that swoons us to not think logically, but simply and so beautifully, we react illogically. We run almost aimlesly with our instinct, not caring of the repercussions. Blind, beautiful, viceral bravery. This passion, the passion
that makes you feel alive, invigorated and stimulated is so necessary to feel. What’s the point if we don’t feel fire? As we grow older our perceptions and ‘deceptions’ of love change. We maybe become a little (or a lot) more tentative, sensitive, reflective, but nearly always more appreciative. Though we still want (must have) that delirious passion that, somehow, pushes us forward. Our love also needs care, more attention to keep it, relevant? Alive? Happy? Who knows? But love needs looking after, loving even… All our loves go through phases, ups and downs, questioning, often confusing. They can be destroying and hurtful, hard going and enraging, but for the moment, those feelings that thrusts through your body, make you high, makes the lows bearable and makes the highs higher, are just the best!

Although my work is extremely demanding, what makes it so rewarding, are the wonderful students, who every year amaze me with their ideas, strength of purpose and creativity. For me, creative
expression opens up a window to the heart and soul.
I believe that everyone has a gift, and that our teaching can help the students to realize who they are and what is their gift. Fashion designers travel and research art, architecture, philosophy, science, history, sustainability and literature in order to inform and create ideas. These diverse subjects are part of how our tutors and students express their individuality, what they learn along the way is that
information not only generates ideas but feeds minds. It broadens
our horizons and this continual exchange from tutor to student keeps us all wanting to learn more.
Fashion has to be loved, those who are
captured by its genius are hooked for life, and as educators we can help our students to find their own path in this, in order to continue our learning and love of creative expression. Claire Swift

The shoot was great; I really enjoyed playing the model role this time. I have to say it felt a bit weird to pose in the middle of uni, but as we started it made sense. It was very good to be a part of the photo shoot, as this was the first time I put my garments on. I felt pretty in them :) Kata Nagy
45
I do wear my designs quite a lot as they truly express my personality and it is always good to get feedback from people who I meet. They are made of very expensive materials and by wearing them you feel pretty precious and the colours make you feel really special. Anna Horvath

For the last three years LCF was our home. This was the most unforgettable and exciting time of our lives. During these years we grew up, met new friends, gained a new understanding of fashion, and developed our creative skills. We found our school ‘parents’; they

lead and encouraged us to reach for new creative horizons.
is ‘Personal Identity’. It is about love for fashion and our ethnic roots.
The theme of this magazine
Thank you for everything we achieved together. We wish you all the best;
Looking back at this big, multicultural family we decided to create Gradu8 Magazine, in which we tried to show our home, ‘parents’ and us.
We are very grateful to all tutors and students who helped us create this first number of Gradu8.
