Welcome from the SAAC President On behalf of the Southern Alberta Angus Club, I would like to welcome everyone to the 26th Annual Chinook Sale. SAAC is the longest running regional club, thanks to support and dedication from all of you, not only to our sale but our annual golf tourney and the steak fries held at various auction markets throughout the south. Thanks to Doug & Joyce Allen and family of Allencroft Angus for their generous donation of the heifer this year and to all our past donators. It is a combination of people like this and yourselves that make our events such a huge success! The excitement is building over our heifer futurity this year as several purchases from last year are in the running. The optimism in the livestock market is very strong and the enthusiasm from our junior members is unbelievable. By offering a 10% discount to our juniors we are making a positive investment in the future of the cattle industry. I was fortunate enough to travel with Brian on part of his selection tour and I will honestly say he did a fantastic job on choosing great quality cattle from our reputable consigners. Whether you are a junior wanting to show or build your herd or a junior at heart with the same dreams there is something here for you. The added feature of our steers on offer this year is sure to build excitement! The cattle will be available for viewing Tuesday night and all day Wednesday. Do not hesitate to call these consigners or myself with any questions. Join us either day to have a look, and of course for some fine Southern Alberta Angus Club hospitality! We’ll be sure to see you there, Doug Domolewski

Welcome from Bouchard Livestock International Welcome to the 26th Annual Chinook Classic Sale. With the extra effort the Chinook consignors put into their club and the annual sale it’s no surprise they are the longest running club of this kind. I have certainly enjoyed the opportunity to manage the sale again and welcomed the challenge of personally selecting a great set of sale cattle for 2012. I want to thank Justin and Doug for accompanying me on my travels, it was great to have your company. The emphasis on open heifers and appeal to junior programs will not disappoint when you come to the sale and analyze this strong offering. The bred heifers are definitely herd building material. The half dozen steer prospects will add to the excitement and have the ability to take you to the pay window. Should you require assistance in evaluating or purchasing a particular sale animal please give us a call.

A favorite out of this years calf crop, coming from a very promising young 2nd calver. 101Z offers extra length of body, a great temperament and hair coat. Her sire Soo Line Kodiak 0148, has been a great addition to our herd bull battery, exhibiting performance, stretch, style, docility, sound feet, impressive hair and overall eye appeal. The calves from Kodiak 0148 have weighed in with very impressive weaning numbers. 101Z weighed in at 688 lbs. Sept 2nd, and is a great representative of why we searched most of the spring of ‘11 to buy a bull of this caliber to compliment our herd. Star is an extremely well-proportioned heifer with the depth, length, thickness and that wow factor we are all looking for. When you look at Star and realize she is from a first-calf heiferr, the performance will speak for itself and numbers will back it up. We decided to open up our complete line of heifer calves for 2 main reasons. #1 was to support the Chinook sale, which truly is one of the great Angus events of the year. The other was because I was too lazy to get 1 or 2 individual animals ready for a sale. Our largest group of heifers would be the Red SSS Endorse 639X calves. He was the $41,000 high seller out of SSS 2011 bull sale. His 18 inch rib-eye would suggest a bull maker. These heifer calves are as sweet made as his bull calves are powerful. HF Prairie Smoke 124T is our black/red gene carrier Kodiak 5R son. Tremendous daughters coming from this line. Many red ones to choose from, with a few straight blacks that would be show stoppers.

He sired attractive, structurally correct cattle that are easy calving while still in the top 10 percent of the breed for weaning and yearling. He is a breed leader for maternal traits, docility and udder quality. 78Y’s dam is a daughter of our carcass quality leader Yellowstone 1’03. He has sired some of the highest marbling EPD cattle in Canada. His daughters are docile, structurally correct, and highly maternal with excellent foot structure. 78Y sells bred to our popular Origen Sire-Cudlobe In Focus 5S. The calf she is carrying will make 78Y one of the best investments of the Fall Sale season. The first 22 sons of 5S averaged over $5000 in 2011 in our 12th Real Bulls For Real Cowboy’s Annual Bull Sale.

Another gentle, fancy, thick one out of a great broody show cow sired by Dwajo Dutch 65P, who was Reserve Grand Champion Bull at Farmfair as a yearling. Tibbie 27z’s sire Buck Lake outfitter 104X defiantly leaves his mark of performance and style, a bull we picked that has not disappointed. Here is a heifer that will not let you down.

Abacus Enchantress 28z is a heifer that will please. She has eye appeal very correct and showy. Her dam 21x has become one of our favourites. This being only her first calf we have reluctantly decided to sell her.

We thought it would be a nice touch if we donated a heifer calf who is progeny of an animal we bought from a former Chinook Classic sale. This daughter is from a bred heifer we purchased from Gloria Blades two years ago. Just like her mother, Ms Hotline is an eye appealing, broody heifer with lots of thickness. Look at the pedigree, loaded with breedleading sires. Good luck in the draw. ADJ ADJ CANADIAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION EPDS BW WW YW BW WW YW MILK TM CE MCE 96 N/A N/A 3.2 56 93 26 53 3.5 7.5
