WELCOME from Crossroad Farms We warmly extend an invitation for you to attend our 9th annual bull & female sale. Thank you to all the bidders and buyers from our past sales, many of you traveled long distances to get here and we really appreciate the effort you made to attend. Thank you to our many repeat customers for your continued support and confidence in our program. We have enjoyed getting to know you during the past 18 years of our involvement in the seed stock business and we truly value the many friendships we have made. We welcome new customers and we look forward to assisting you with your bull needs. Feel free to stop by the farm anytime, we are always available and sure enjoy those visits in the bull pen. Tell us about your program and we will try tohelp you make a choice that will work best for you. The future has never looked brighter for the beef industry and the commercial cattleman. With beef cattle numbers at a low, the outlook is very positive for prices to remain strong for many years. Simmental genetics have so much to offer, superior maternal traits and performance to produce heavy weight steers and top end heifers to fill the demand for replacement females. Choosing a herd bull is one of the most important choices a cattleman has to make. A good bull will pay for himself when you sell his first set of calves. A poor bull, and especially if you keep your replacements, will cost you for years. It really pays to buy the best genetics you can. Our sale offering is strong with a very good selection from calving ease to performance. We always introduce new genetics for you utilizing AI with our herd bulls siring the larger groups beginning in the fullblood division with the many times proven Cornerstone sons. Crossroad Nascar and Navigator are both bulls we raised that have excellent sons on offer, the Esposito sons that were so popular at last year’s sale are back and the exciting new Paparazzi sons will also make their debut for 2015. We are pleased to offer a good representation of our herd in the heifer section allowing you to expand your herd with some interesting genetics and just in time for breeding season. At this time we would like to say a sincere thank you to our family, friends, neighbors and employees for all your good help. Thank you to Claude Wasden and crew for always doing such agood job getting the cattle ready. Thank you to Brian Bouchard, Jerry and all our sales staff for reliable professional service. Mark Shologan is here from DLMS and Darryl Snider with Bohrson Livestock will also be in attendance on sale day. If there is a bull you are interested in but are unable to attend the sale, just let us know and we can assist you in bidding or contact anyone of the capable sales staff to bid on your behalf. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday February 25th. Come early and enjoy a home cooked lunch and some Crossroad hospitality.

We decided to start our catalogue order with the Cornerstone sired bulls this year. He has done an exceptional job here at Crossroads, leaving moderate frame, a ton of volume, excellent structure and very easy doing cattle. This sire group of bulls are naturally thick, solid coloured and with the pedigree of Regent, Knight Mr. T and Helga 10Y, the females are outstanding. Cornerstone has made a huge impact on our herd and we are pleased to pass on some of these great genetics to you. Pictured on November 20, here is a bull that we feel will go on to follow in his father’s footsteps. Moderate framed in structure, wide based over the top meat bull would best describe him. Cheetah has been admired for his overall dimension and balance. His mother is a cherry red goggle eyed cow who has developed into one of our elite. Beautifully uddered, stays in great condition and brings a great one home every year. Holt Colony at Irma, AB. purchased an excellent son at our 2012 Bull Sale. Consistency is a great trait that we can certainly see in this bull’s materialistic and genetic make- up. This guy will go on to be a great one.

Hey cattlemen, if you like your bulls quiet, this one has been a pet since he was a baby. Huge wrap around goggles, tons of length and loads of hair in a deep red package. This bull has eye appeal that commands your attention every time you walk into the pen. He weaned off in early September at a strong 875 lbs. One of Commander’s strongest points will be the females he sires. With the strong Cornerstone and MFL Eddy combination, he will definitely leave you with some crackerjack momma cows. 3

Pictured in mid-November at 10 months of age and you can certainly admire the qualities this exceptional Cornerstone son has to offer. His dam belongs to one of our strongest cow families. She raised a top end bull for Darren & Josh at Red Willow Ranch from Cutknife and a daughter was purchased by Double G Farms at Meota. Here is a bull that will inject high weaning and yearling weights into your calves and leave you with females that will continue producing your best calves year after year.

A typical deep body Cornerstone son full of meat and muscle, capable of siring calves that will be some of the heaviest you have ever raised. This Full Fleck bull also comes from an extremely powerful cow family with great udders. His grandam and 12 year old great grandam are still producing in the herd. His dark red goggle eyed fertile dam has always calved in January and has raised bulls for Belle Plaine Colony, Daniel De Montarnal and last year’s full brother was purchased by Morinville Colony. Big steers and replacement females, here is a bull that will give you both. 4

Another good Full Fleck Cornerstone son with natural fleshing ability that is efficient and low maintenance. We really appreciate the udder quality on the Cornerstone females AND can they ever raise a calf ! The maternal side of this bull’s pedigree is also exceptional, they have great udders, good temperament and high fertility. His dam raised a son purchased by Allan Tkachyk from Ashmont, AB. and we have her exceptional Spitfire daughter retained in the herd that is due to calve any day. Excellent Full Fleck bull here, white face, very deep body, pictured here in mid-November and has been a front runner since birth. The Cornerstone x Radium combination has worked very well for us producing colour, style and that undeniable thickness. We have successfully flushed his young dam to our exciting high selling Sibelle Spartacus herdsire purchased in Quebec last spring, and we will do her again to our new $40,000 dollar high selling JNR Philosophy bull purchased at the Equation sale in Red Deer in December. Can’t wait to see these calves!! Corvette is a real meat machine and will be quite a bull when he matures. Expect high weaning weights and major maternal strengths, so keep back as many replacements as you can.

Doug Marjoram and Darryl Roach partnered at last year’s sale to purchase a high selling son from Cordoba’s dam and the year before a good son sold to K&C Hall Farms from Lashburn. If you are thinking about expanding your cow herd you should know that Cornerstone daughters are without a doubt some of our best producing females. Here is a Full Fleck bull with proven genetics that has a great body type with big testicles. He will cover a lot of cows and produce thick, soggy calves that will tip the scales in your favour. 6

A real good Full Fleck Optimal son that showcases incredible muscle and power. He is a little short in the ear department, but that certainly will not affect the awesome calves he will produce. With limited Optimal semen available, we were sure hoping for a superstar female from this mating, instead we are able to offer this genetic package with mega maternal strengths to pass on to his offspring. Over-Drive’s dam and 11 year old grandam are both excellent uddered females. We have one of her daughters working in the herd and Sunville Simmentals from McCreary, MB. purchased a super Rusty son that is siring some of their top end progeny. Good performance, high maternal values and I would guess that most of these Over-Drive calves will be stylish dark red and goggle eyed. Females sired by this bull will be of definite interest.

Here are some outcross genetics with this smooth shouldered yet deep sided Full Fleck bull sired by Hexagon. Born in February and pictured in mid-November, you can certainly appreciate him for his early maturing, dark red stylish profile and it is no mistake that his red goggle eyed Evan 14P mother is bred the same way again. Her last year’s good Colossal son sold to our long-time customers Wayne & Lenore Jessop at Cattle Creek Crossing. If you want to know about the maternal strengths and longevity in this bloodline, you will see Hurricane’s eleven year old good uddered grandam’s name in many pedigrees throughout this catalogue, I guess you could call her a matriarch and she is due to calve again by the end of January. Hurricane is an interesting package and Crossroads will definitely consider putting some of these genetics back into the herd. Give this bull some serious consideration; he is one of a kind!

We own the Ranger bull together with our good friends at Little Willow Creek from Frenchman Butte, Sk. and we are very pleased with his calves. At the 2014 Source sale Barry Labatte purchased an exceptional Ranger heifer calf for $13,000. The Ranger progeny are very consistent. They are stout made individuals that exhibit tons of mass, all in an eye appealing package. Rancher was born an 80 pound twin and his excellent uddered mother certainly did a good job raising him. One of Jody’s best producing cows is a Kaptain daughter, so we certainly appreciate this bloodline. Here is a mid-January born Full Fleck bull with adequate thickness, length of body and style. Great genetics from his dam’s side too, Roger Tataryn twisted my arm and purchased one of her daughters out of our keeper pen last spring. Kokanee sired females will be strong and you won’t have to drink any Kokanee to be happy, just sell a few of his big steers and you will be smiling all the way to the bank!

Mr. Evan 14P is the sire of Radium. And here is another one of those good 14P Evan sons that have been so popular for us because of their solid body type, great colour and stunning style. Pictured at 10 months of age, he shows qualities that we admire, deep sided, excellent rear quarter and along with his high fleck values he has a wonderful disposition. Bridgestone is a very complete bull. He is an excellent choice and is sure to sire calves with added pounds and females that will grow into outstanding producers. A lot of potential here, take this bull home knowing you purchased a good one. 12

Crossroad Radium, where do you start. He has been such a consistent producer, not only for us, but many other breeders have had amazing results too. Beechinor Bros. just sold a Radium daughter at the Equation sale in December for $31,000. There is also a big demand across the border for Radium genetics. Dr. Jason Gress & his wife Nikki from Vantage Point Farm at Boonsboro, MD have purchased the US semen rights, give them a call if you are from the USA and wanting to use these proven genetics. Over the years our customers have really liked the Radium sons, unfortunately only one was born a bull this year, and he is a good one. Born to a heifer, he has the good qualities that we all look for and of course that Radium style, style, style! Jagger is a high percentage Fleckvieh that has a lot of power from his Porters Reserve/BHR Baron dam’s side. He will sire excellent calves and leave you females that will bring home big returns every fall.

His Stubby dam knows how to raise em! If you want to take your herd to the next level, then do not underestimate the value this bull will contribute to your herd. A tremendously good bull out of the Homo polled Nascar. Don’t let this one slip by, you may look a long time to find another as good as he his. ~ Homo Polled & Hetero Black ~

Another good Nascar son with lots of meat and muscle, great colour and hair. Excellent performance for an end of February born bull too. You also really have to appreciate the profile on all these Nascar sons. Northgate will sire an impressive, consistent set of replacement females and thick steer calves that will push down the scales. Very proud of the job the Nascar herdsire has done for us and we can’t wait to see one of his sons excel in your herd. 21

A super thick Nascar son pictured at 10 months of age that has a ton of middle and a naturally quiet disposition. Nato has excellent growth with high weaning and yearling weights and you can expect him to sire the same. He has some added performance from his fullblood dam that has raised bulls for Cleardale Colony, Millard Farms and Leask Colony. Here is a bull that will sire early maturing, heavy weight soggy steers and we all know more pounds equals more dollars.

Look at the performance on this young bull, pictured at only 10 months old, he is sure going to look good by sale time, and you will love him even more when he is out working in your pastures. Great colour with a blaze face giving him that little bit of identity, great hair coat and a super set of EPD’s. His Robin Hood dam has raised bulls that have sold in three of our previous bull sales. Nine Iron will raise you a consistent set of calves that will fetch you a premium at the stockyards.

An incredibly good bull and one of Gerald’s favorites. He has had admirable qualities since birth, excellent body type and big rear quarter, full in the flank, great colour, hair and super disposition. This is our first calf crop from the high selling $43,000 homo polled Paparazzi purchased from Czech-Mate Simmentals &Outlaw Cattle Co., and we couldn’t be happier. Potash’s dam is an extremely good producing Gunner cow. We have two of her daughters working in the herd and an awesome Beef Maker daughter was purchased by Red Willow Ranch. One of the reasons we bought Paparazzi was for his performance and larger frame. Some of our customers sell their calves off the cow and others finish. Either way they are going to see much higher weights from these Paparazzi sons and with prices so good, those extra pounds add up to a lot of money. Pay Day’s productive dam has raised progeny for Moore Ranch and Greg Grzybowski and we also have a daughter working in the herd. Pay Day is a solid coloured, larger framed bull with excellent performance and a good disposition. He will sire calves that are in high demand for today’s market. 23

Polaris is quite exceptional, he is a twin and their mother raised them both. His dam, the Tiffany cow is one of our super stars, producing a heifer for Erixon Simmentals, a top notch Crosby son to KJ Larre Ranching and another heifer to Hairy Hill Cattle Co. Navigator is another bull we raised, he is a Stubby/Red Label son and crossed with the Red Baron/ Rusty dam giving Mariner an injection of fleck genetics has really worked well. His dam has also raised an awesome daughter purchased by Tessier Simmentals at the first annual Source sale and her last year’s good bull calf sold to Lakeside Colony & RCM Cattle Co at Cranford, AB. We are certainly pleased with the calves our Homo polled Esposito herdsire is producing. This is our second calf crop, the udders on the heifers that have calved look excellent. Females are very feminine with attractive front ends, good color, hair and body type. Our high seller at the Source sale in December was an Esposito daughter for $14,000 to Virginia Ranch & Randy Ward, another went to Hoegl Livestock for $10,000. Red Willow Ranch purchased another for $8,000 and an open heifer went home with Rafter 4T for $7,000. Here is a super dark red homo polled Esposito son with a lot of eye appeal and good performance. His dam has two daughters working in the herd and another was purchased by Darren & Josh at Red Willow. Estevez moves out well and will cover a lot of cows. He will sire some outstanding early maturing calves. ~ Homo Polled ~

A real soggy, blaze faced Esposito son mothered by a Builder/Rusty dam. And again we see some above average performance with the added thickness from the fleck influenced cow side. We had originally bought Esposito to use in the heifer pen. He has a small head and smooth shoulders, but he sure works well on cows too and certainly no assistance needed at calving time. Edison is a real complete bull that will sire a consistent set of calves, make sure you keep some of the heifers for replacements, you’re gonna love them!

A very young March calf here that has the potential to be a candidate for the heifer pen with Stubby, Chuckwagon and Radium in the pedigree. We feel the genetic makeup and his soft made physical appearance will be a hit with the younger ladies. Huge testicles, solid coloured pattern and just a nice balance here. We lost Red Rock to a hip injury and there will be no more progeny, so don’t miss out!

This bull has come a long way since being born an 84 pound twin. Out of our easy calving Dynastorm herdsire and a deep bodied full blood cow that has raised bulls for David & Curtis Gette from Macklin, SK., Rock Lake Colony from Coaldale AB., and last year’s good bull went to Kinzie Farms from Pike Lake, SK. Storm possesses all the qualities needed to be included in the bull sale; good colour, adequate thickness and big testicles. He will mature into an impressive herdsire. He could be the bull you have been looking for.

Well here it is … my first true F1 bull. For a number of years people have asked us why we don’t raise some of these. Always willing to take a chance, I went out and bought a pretty darn good Angus bull from Ward Cockburn, bred a handful of critters to him hoping to raise the F1 female and one heifer cranked out this guy at 80 lbs. Should make a terrific heifer bull – calving ease on both sides of pedigree and mommas side goes back to the great Tiffany cow. This guy has done exceptionally well and will be interesting to see what you think of him on sale day.

We really like these Nascar females, powerful and broody and where do you find a heifer calf that has this much depth of body? She is going to make one super cow and without a doubt WILL produce bulls! Her 11year old Branded Beef dam has three good daughters working in our herd and is bred again for a January calf. Above average EPD’s and a great combination of genetics. Here is a heifer that will work.
