Welcome from Bouchard Livestock Welcome to the 2014 edition of the Annual Farmfair Headliner All Breed Jackpot Show and Sale. The Headliner Jackpot is one of the richest events of its kind in the nation and combines excitement for both buyer and seller. As we all know events like this do not happen without sponsors and we would like to tip our hat to the sponsors of the Headliner. MNP, the event title corporate sponsor has been with us since day one and we thank them for their belief and continued support of Agriculture and the Headliner. We also need to recognize Northlands and Farmfair International for their support of this event and for allowing Bouchard Livestock International to be part of this event. As we started selecting this sale offering this summer it has become evident that it’s a truly exciting time to be in the cattle business. The excitement in the commercial sale ring was already spilling over to our consignors as they were digging deep to offer their best for the sale. Our Bred Females are not large in numbers but both heifers are true donors in the making. The fancy heifer calf division, and I truly mean fancy, is full of show stoppers. The front-of-the-class kind that will attract attention when they walk into a Jackpot show ring or as they walk across your front pasture. So, now the really exciting addition to the sale this year is the Headliner Genetic Showcase. As Farmfair continues to be an international destination for customers from around the world, we talked about how to expand the headliner event to allow customers from across Canada and around the world the opportunity to purchase some of Canada’s elite genetics without trucking them home. We feel that we have some exceptional genetic treasures on offer. The kind of genetics that are from reputable donor females, past Farmfair Champions and past Farmfair sale graduates. The genetic showcase brings a wide, exciting variety to this inaugural event. Plan to be in attendance at Farmfair International for the Headliner event in 2014. If for any reason you cannot be in attendance the entire event will be broadcasted on www.dlms.ca. As always, our Bouchard Livestock team would be honored talk with you about the offering and assist you in any way. See you in Edmonton on November 7, 2014. - Mark Shologan, Bouchard Livestock International

A RED Mader Blackgold 110S daughter! A foundation cow that has probably raised more high sellers for us than any other cow, also a female that many embryos have been sold on, and we have really enjoyed watching the success of those customers selling her progeny as their highlights! Here is a dark cherry red daughter that was destined for our replacement pen, however, you have to sell the good ones! She is real sound-structured, carries a lot of depth of rib, and really has that brood cow look about her. Recent maternal sisters include a feature heifer calf sold at FNL last fall for $14,000 to Rust Mountain View Farms. On the top side of the pedigree is Mader Powersurge, who has really surged to the top in producing the right kind for us. Some of you may recall our two Powersurge daughters that we sold at Agribition last fall, $9,500 to Lewis Farms and $12,000 to High Country Cattle Services. I think genotypically this bred female is royally bred in our program, and is destined to be a matron cow for her new owners. She has an early service to LRX The Godfather, the $40,000 high selling bull, and was exposed to the $15,000, lot 2, Stubby son that we sold through our spring bull sale. At ultrasound time, the vet could not 100% determine whether it was the AI service or the next cycle she was pregnant too, but either way should be a great cross. AI’d to LRX The Godfather 141Z on 02Apr14 Exposed to Mader Protocal 46A from 10Apr to 27May14

MDR 59B- Here is one of three LRX The Godfather females we will feature this fall. We had over 40 progeny born out of him this spring and couldn’t be happier. They calved well, are hairy, have lots of grow and mass, and as you can see, they are really the soft middled/belly dragging kind, that we were shooting to get out of him! The majority of his progeny were bulls, and they dominate the bull pen! Watch for some feature paternal sibs to this female in our showstring this fall. On the bottom side she is out of a big barrelled Red Baron daughter who continuously raises us a big one! This female is full of rib dimension, has that long feminine front end, and is really functional in travel.

A really well put together outcross red heifer calf here, out of a very hard working first calf daughter of Usher. Her sire, Red Mile, has surpassed our expectations producing very stout, functional, moderate cattle - our best sire group on the ground this year. Look for the other Red Mile progeny out this fall in our stall and in the Outlaw Cattle Co string.

City View 12X Beyonce 409B is a truly exceptional female no matter how you choose to analyze her. Moderately constructed, beautifully extended from the chest floor upward, and tremendously correct on the move, Beyonce has a great presence about her and is impossible not to notice. We first saw Harvie Boondock when he was champion bull at Farmfair two years ago and we knew he had to be a part of our breeding program. Beyonce 409B is an example of how Boondock has far exceeded our hopes consistently adding mass, muscle shape, with a tremendous cow family backing him. 9 of the 12 calves in our show pen this summer were Boondock’s. Cow families are important to us and Beyonce comes from a great one. Her dam and granddam raised our two highest selling bulls this past spring. Beyonce has a twin sister who is equally as outstanding and will be kept to continue building this great cow family. Beyonce 409B is entered at Agribition and we would be proud to display her if the new owner wishes.

Here is the very first progeny of BLI Red Addiction 224Z offered for sale and she is a beauty. Red Addiction was the very popular $15,750 high seller to Jayshaw Simmentals in our 2013 bull sale. His first calf crop has proven to be what we had hoped for, they came small and very vigorous at birth and then grew into moderate-framed, deepsided, stout, attractive calves. Black Betty is a very good example of the deep rib, sound moving progeny that Addiction left here and wherever he was used. Black Betty is very attractive through her front end, has lots of top, is wide through her quarter and possesses tons of hair that we all appreciate. Black Betty is soft in her pastern, soft in her make-up and free in her stride. We feel that Black Betty has the phenotype to be competitive in the show ring but to also be a productive brood cow. Take a hold of the first opportunity to own a daughter of Red Addiction as there will not be many chances to do so.

Well she did it again this year. Mader P Top Grade has raised yet another heifer for the sale pen, and oh boy is she a dandy. 2B is a heifer you just got to love for her length of spine, depth of rib, big hip, great disposition and her overall power. She has a bright future of being a top producer just like her great-uddered dam. Her sire, Red Mile, has done nothing but impress us with his first two calf crops. Siring calves that I strive to raise, that can compete in show ring but most importantly to go on and produce. Her maternal sister sold thru this sale last year and found a lot of friends and I’m sure 2B will have no problem finding the same or maybe more. Really should be keeping a heifer back from this cow but its rewarding watching them impact in other herds. 4-H and YCS members look here.

Annie has caught our eye from a very young age and I am sure will catch yours as well. She is long bodied with a strong top and a square hip. Very powerful in her makeup and possesses extra volume and cover it all up with that dark blood red color and great hair coat. She is backed by a great first calf heifer that I purchased in a group of unreal breds last fall from Tessier Simmentals. 123Z herself is dark red Tess Rampage daughter that is moderate framed, easy doing and has a very good udder attachment with perfect teat size. Annie will be the first calf to sell from the $75,000 KWA FLYF Red Mountain bull. I am very pleased with the Red Mountain calves came easy and had growth, shape and very good disposition. 23B is sure to make a very nice front pasture female or nice show heifer for 4-H or YCS.

We are extremely excited to once again be a consignor at this year’s Headliner Show and Sale. This year we are offering Red Shiloh Born 2B Loaded 11B. Her half sister, Red Shiloh A Loaded Gal 6A was last year’s Supreme Champion Female of this event, as well as the 2013 Canadian Angus Gold Show Champion Red Angus Heifer Calf, and Reserve Champion of the 2013 Stockade Roundup “Stockade Lady” All Breeds Show. Her paternal brothers were the feature bulls in our sale this spring, including our high selling bull. Her sire, Red Vikse Fully Loaded 29Y, a direct son of Red Ter Ron Fully Loaded 540R, was Reserve Champion Senior Division Yearing Bull at Farmfair in 2012, and Senior Champion Bull at Stockade Roundup in 2013. Her dam, Red Shiloh Trinity 7T is one of our top females, who is consistently admired for her mass and structure. Red Shiloh Born 2B Loaded 11B has exceptional show appeal and all the attributes that we are striving for in our breeding program. Lemay is a dark red heifer that is great-topped and deepbodied to match with a very nice disposition. 8B’s dam has a unique pedigree out of the great herd sire, Premier Patriot 16. The cow has produced many bulls in our On Target Bull Sale and we have one daughter in our herd. Lemay 8B’s sire, Recoil, was very competitive in the show ring last year. Supreme Champion at Armstrong, BC, Reserve Grand at Farm Fair and Agribition and top ten Finalist in RBC Challenge in Regina. Recoil has been producing offspring that have been high sellers with one selling to Topham Red Angus at our Bull sale last year. We are offering a heifer that we would like to keep ourselves but we wanted to showcase our best to you. This is one that, with these proven pedigrees, will definitely make a cow for you.

This heifer is so easy to look at and appreciate her for her performance, length and sheer capacity. 233B “Raisin” is a granddaughter of our super Royal Valley females, Red Royal Carmella 233M, a Pie Lo Canyon daughter. These females, daughters and granddaughters are not readily available from us and Raisin is no different – with her presence, performance and striking dark cherry red hair coat. When you analyze her, she is difficult to fault – her style, structure, depth, leg set, and ability to travel smooth and free really set her apart in a pen. Her sire, Red Cinder “Nuge” 93Z, has left us some impressive performing cattle, both male and female. “Nuge” is a Red Lone Stone Pursuit 81W son out of our great Cheta 93Z cow, who is as good a cow as there is in the country. 233B is the best of both worlds with great maternal characteristics and easy fleshing ability. She looks good in the field or on the end of the halter following her mother’s footsteps as 2005 National Intermediate Heifer Champion in a very competitive division of 40 heifers. Don’t miss her, she will be sought after on sale day.

Red Cinder Rosette 17B is a soft-made, sweet-fronted heifer that will make a great addition to anyone’s herd. Her dam, a daughter of Red Cinder Pursuit 101S, is built right – she has femininity, a solid foot, and a terrific udder that has longevity to spare. 17W is also a paternal sister to Red Lone Stone Pursuit 81W, a bull that we successfully campaigned as a yearling to become 2010 Reserve Grand Champion at Agribition and is currently siring some super calves south of the border. Rosette 17B’s sire, Red Cinder Road Trip 18W, is a bull we are using for his calving ease and huge maternal strength. We have retained two sisters to Rosette in our herd and a son sold in our On Target Sale to Triple W Simmentals. Buy with confidence, this heifer is sure to make someone an unreal female.

Lady Blossom 25A Gr Ch Female - MLE
Sire: Styles Upgrade
Lady Blossom 25A was Grand Champion female at MLE 2013 show at Brandon. She also won the interbreed heifer calf jackpot show “Little Lady Classic”. Her full sibling was Reserve Senior bull calf at CWA in 2013 and was high selling bull in our bull sale in February 2014. This female displays length of body and plenty of spring of rib. A heifer with a great future ahead of her. Bred on April 27/14 (no exposure) to our newest sire from LLB, with Final Answer and Sitz Alliance in his pedigree. Combined with her pedigree this should be a great calf.

She will find friends in the show ring and, more importantly, with her production. This young lady is sure to be an efficient addition to anyone’s herd. The first daughter off our ‘Prince’ sire to be sold, with the consistency of foot & udder quality of the 22N sire on the bottom side she is sure to be productive for a very long time. This heifer has that nice front end and still has the thickness and volume to make a good producer. Her maternal sister was Senior Yearling Champion for Jesse at Farm Fair. That sister has produced a bull calf that is in our show string this year and was our highest weaning weight bull. This is the first progeny to sell out of our new herd sire KG Sureshot 1186. He has been leaving calves that are nicefronted with thickness and nice lines. We are very happy with the way his calves are turning out.Sureshot is in the top 10% for weaning and yearling weight and top 1% for milk and scrotal. You don’t buy this heifer to add to your herd you buy her to build a herd.

Simmental Embryos
Welcome to the inaugural Headliner Genetic Showcase sale. We are really excited to be adding this exceptional Genetic Showcase and Sale to the Headliner in 2014. Over the past five years Stacy Felker and the team here at Northlands have truly made Farmfair International a destination for producers across Canada as well as an International destination for customers from around the world. As we looked at how to expand the Headliner event to allow customers from across Canada and around the world the opportunity to purchase some of Canada’s elite genetics without trucking them home, we are very pleased to bring you the Headliner Genetic Showcase. We feel that we have some exceptional genetic treasures on offer, the kind of genetics that are from reputation-building donor females, past Farmfair Champions and past Farmfair sale graduates. The genetic showcase brings a wide, exciting variety to this inaugural event. Plan to be in attendance at Farmfair International for the Headliner event in 2014. If for any reason you cannot be in attendance, please feel free to contact any of our Bouchard Livestock team. We would be happy to discuss the sale offering with you and see if the genetic lots meet your needs and export status to your country. We look foward to this exciting section of the Headliner and seeing you in Edmonton on November 7, 2014

Cheyenne was purchased out of the Farmfair Simmental sale in 2008 and is quickly making her mark in the Simmental breed with calves born in Canada, USA and Australia. Her progeny have been easy to market to date with a CWA class winner and many high sellers. Cheyenne has a stellar phenotype, beautiful udder and is backed by a strong pedigree with generations of outstanding females on both sides. The mating by Super Duty will compliment a great cow that is just starting to make her mark in the Simmental circles. Check out her progeny in our stall at Farmfair. Embryos qualify for export to USA and Australia.

Her first son Vertigo 18Z was a feature R Plus Hardrock son that sold through our spring bull sale, and with the dominant blaze face she passes down, he was a very popular commodity. We walked Vertigo last year and have a feature daughter from him selling this fall at Friday Night Lights. Her sire, Ebony’s Intuition, needs no introduction, as he was the Supreme Champion Bull right here at Farmfair International a few years back. X-tasy is a real nice-uddered female, is real feminine and classy in her design, and we feel the mating to the powerhouse Full Throttle bull will give you some pretty dreamy black baldie progeny! X-Tasy herself was purchased through this very sale as a feature heifer calf in 2010. She has proven she has the tools to breed true to her quality! Calves will be Homo Polled by parentage!

You will be hard-pressed to find a more proven and productive mating than Ramona and Crosby. When you think of the stamp Ramona has put on some of the breed-leading herdbulls in the Simmental industry, like Full Throttle and Red Power, then what would the next obvious mating be? CROSBY. The Crosby bull had a tremendous influence on the Kopp Farms program and countless breeders came away from their dispersal extremely impressed with the Crosby progeny. If you want to eliminate the guesswork in an embryo mating this could be the ticket.

Powerdrive has a long history of siring females that influence their progeny with performance, style and eye appeal. 112M was a high selling heifer calf right here at Farmfair and traces back to the very proven Centerfold female a Nichols Black Destiny female who was also a high seller coming out of Checkers. Broker has definitely rose to the occasion in terms of style and functionality siring progeny that have excelled in the show ring. He also has sired the loose-made, big-footed cattle that continue to impress the most critical commercial producers. This mating has already produced a couple of embryo daughters yet to be heard from. No matter if you want to show or sell bulls this mating will work.

HF Tibbie 100M seems to come up on most people’s radar as a definite notable cow family in the Black Angus pool of genetics. Tibbie 100M was the Supreme Champion Female at both Farmfair and Canadian Western Agribition 2007, and has been a feature female and donor at Hamilton Farms throughout her career. Tibbie 100M’s progeny have found their way into many very progressive herds throughout Canada and the U.S.A, such as J and S Angus, Dynasty Angus Grand River Angus (Michigan), Dave Woywitka, and Northern Black Angus. Mated to Connealy Consensus, a bull that has led the way in many aspects of the industry, both at home and south of the border, selling for 210,000.00 to Express Ranches, OK, and Sandpoint Angus, NE. We have used Consensus extensively for the past couple years with great results in terms of short gestation, heavy weaning wts, early maturity, and the females have awesome udder quality and milking ability. These embryos will be sure to add value to the top end of most elite herds.

New Lady 303P is a typical, all work, no play New Trend 22D daughter!! Sold to Graham’s Red Angus, Ontario for $6,500 as a bred heifer and then Brylor got the opportunity to repurchase her in the Graham’s Red Angus Dispersal Sale 2010 for $5,500. That very same day a daughter was the High Selling Bred Heifer at $5,800 and her heifer calf was the high selling calf at $3,100.00. In addition to the progeny sold at Graham’s Dispersal an Open heifer sold as a front runner in Red Round Up 2009 for $6,600 to Michigan and a $6,400 bull in Brylor’s Annual 2009 Bull Sale. When you stack her past production with the outstanding full ET sibs on the ground in 2014 at Dinant Red Angus in Camrose this New Trend 22D daughter is a no miss hard working female. The package just keeps getting better as the sire of the emrbyos is the $47,500 High selling bull from the Brylor Ranch 2011 bull sale to JK Livestock, then fast forward to 2013 and the first set of bull calves saw a high seller at $17,000 to XXX Red Angus. This is a no-miss combination here!!

Opportunity is knocking on semen that is in VERY Short Supply!! Brylor Ranch bought the great Red SSS Arson 85U bull as the high seller from SSS Red Angus at $17,000 and since then the value has done nothing but gone straight up!! Now 85U is deceased and with semen in the endangered category this could be the last semen to ever sell in Canada. So lets talk about demand and how these genetics can change your program. Todate the Arson sons selling in the Brylor Ranch Bull sale have averaged near $9,000 on 40 plus sons, and just recently at a sale in Emporia, KS a few straws hit the $500 mark per straw and at that very same sale the embryos sired by Arson averaged over $1,000 per egg. The genetic value is here and this is an opportunity not to be missed to catch the Arson 85U.

Here is your chance to get your hands on some breed leading genetics! These genetics have been proven not only in the show ring but in production as well. CJSL Xcite 353X was Grand Champion Female at Canadian Western Agribition in 2013 after being crowned Reserve National Champion Female at Farmfair in 2013. Her last two heifer calves have gone into production in the elite herds of Greenwood Limousin and Highland Stock Farms. In January of 2014 she laid down and had twin heifer calves. Not only did she nurse both of them until weaning, but gave us 22 eggs in two flushes – talk about fertilitiy!! RPY Paynes Derby is a bull that needs no introduction! He was the undefeated Champion Bull every where he was shown in 2013, and his calves are some of the most talked about this season! The mating of these two outstanding individuals was a “no brainer” and we know that purchasing these exportable eggs will be too!
