elcome to the Shades of the Prairies 2016 sale. As we edge towards the end of 2016 we have definitely seen some interesting and different twists and turns in both weather and markets. The fall harvest season started with some great weather and a lot of folks in the south came close to being done harvest. Then the moisture came by way of both snow and rain with no let-up in sight for the month of October. November saw the wind blow and the sun shine, with a tremendous amount of grain being harvested and winter feed put up. The calf market earlier in the fall was a lot like the weather in terms of uncertainty. Latter October and November have returned a lot of stability to the cattle industry, and that â&#x20AC;&#x153;happy to be in the businessâ&#x20AC;? feeling is returning. Many producers comments who marketed their calves in the last two or three weeks is that they are very satisfied with their returns, realizing this is 2016 not 2015, and this is still the third highest priced calves they have ever sold. The 2016 Shades of the Prairies offering is nothing short of awesome. Shades has become one of the Benchmark annual fall consignment sales in the entire beef industry. This sale has commanded strong prices and a huge demand for the offering. Probably one of the most gratifying things for us as sale managers is the tremendous demand for the lead off cattle but also the consistency and demand by leading producers across the country for the entire offering. We urge you to call the individual breeders and discuss their consignments. The bred heifers are the kind to put in your front pasture with a great amount of thought and effort put into the choice of service sires. The open heifers are as complete a set of potential show heifers and eventual brood cows as exist in any sale. There is one Fullblood, Full Fleck herdbull that has already gathered a ton of interest. The embryo matings are loaded with potential, and many will be directly related to individuals in this very offering. We at Bouchard Livestock are as near as your phone, we are very in tune with this great offering. A complete package, 84C is an out-cross, eye appealing, structurally correct, top end female setting up a great udder. This is a structurally correct, thick, big middle, solid black and multi polled heifer off of the very popular AI sire CCF Vision bull. We purchased a semen package to use on our black cows and from the looks of 3D and 8D it worked. Dandy 3D goes back to the Gidsco 19T dam, another very strong cow family at our place. 3D was the heaviest heifer calf at weaning this year and the second year in a row for her dam Tanky 104A to accomplish that. This may not be the fanciest heifer to sell this fall but after that she has it all, easy doing, broody and stout. We have not flushed females on our farm but this one may be a candidate for that, she is worth a look. 33

Ruby 29D is a very fancy red heifer calf that shows a lot of promise both for the show ring and as a mother cow, structurally correct and feminine up front. The dam is a powerful cow with tons of volume and a perfect udder. The Beef Maker females have worked really well for us and if check her pedigree, the foundation Ruby 10R cow shows up again as it does with our bred heifer consignment 6C. We were able to purchase a semen pack from Bouchard Livestock on this high selling bull from 2015 MRL bull sale so this will be one of the first MRL Whiskey calves to sell this fall. The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Bouchard Livestock Ltd reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should the purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, Bouchard Livestock Ltd reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage, either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale, together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. BID Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.
