Learn to play the ancient and mysterious board game known as Go. The rules are so simple they can be taught in a few minutes– but it can take a lifetime to master the game. Ages 5+.

MAD SCIENTIST DAY: FOOD SCIENCE

Explore hands on STEAM based activities. This program is designed to help children ask questions and spark curiosity about the world. Walk-ins are welcome while supplies last. Ages 2–6.

Do you have what it takes to be a mad scientist? Make slime, exploding candy, erupting volcanoes- you never know where your lab coat and goggles will take you! Come ready to learn, play, and explore. Ages 3+.

Set in New York City during the depression, an unnamed male newspaper columnist writes an advice column for the lovelorn and lonesome. Based on the expressionist black comedy novel by Nathaniel West. TAKE DOWN THE DOOR Tuesday, March 17, 12–1 p.m. at Main–Canyon Theater Described as “a powerhouse Celtic band”, Take Down the Door hearkens the old Irish tradition of taking the door off its hinges and throwing it down on a dirt cottage floor when it was time for a party. Based in Lyons, Colorado, this high energy quintet features former Gaelic-Storm fiddler Jessie Burns, bassist Eric Thorin (Matt Flinner Trio, Jeff Austin Band), Colorado’s foremost Celtic fiddle and guitar duo Adam Agee and Jon Sousa, and singer/percussionist Beth Gadbaw.

MAKER MADE Feb. 8–March 30 at Main–Canyon Gallery & Satellite Exhibition at Meadows An exhibition celebrating the work of the designers, engineers, artists, and craftspeople who exemplify our maker community. Showcased pieces will include printed materials, threedimensional objects, kinetic, and interactive projects.

A BILL VIELEHR: THE ARTIST BEHIND “THE VIELEHR” Feb. 7–March 22 at Main–Arapahoe Ramp Lifelong Boulder resident Bill Vielehr was a sculptor who committed himself fully to a career in fine art. Coinciding with the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF), these original works are a fitting tribute to the award-winning artists presenting at BIFF.

BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT (BVSD) April 3–26 at Main–Canyon Gallery & Satellite Exhibition at Meadows The Boulder Valley School District will once again hold its annual K–8 Art exhibit at the Boulder Public Library. Art teachers from all elementary and middle schools will select pieces of art and honor the student artists who created them at the opening reception on April 5. All are welcome to enjoy this event, which has been an important part of advocating for art in public education over the past decades.

AFRICAN AMERICANS OF BOULDER COUNTY Feb. 6–March 12 at Carnegie In celebration of Black History Month, learn about the African Americans who lived in, and contributed to, Boulder County from the late 1800s through the twentieth century. This display features photographs collected by Charles Nilon (1916-1991), professor emeritus of English at the University of Colorado Boulder, and director of the Black Studies Program.

BIGGER VIEW(S): EARTH, ANTHROPOCENE, BEAUTY March 27–May 24 at Main–Arapahoe Ramp This exhibition, featuring David D’Agostino, Jennifer Lord, and Noah Travis Phillips, formally and thematically questions dualistic viewpoints. The artists instead offer parallel, simultaneous realities of multi-centered nature.

CELEBRATE BOULDER ARTS WEEK 2020 Friday, March 27–Saturday, April 4 Boulder Arts Week is Boulder’s only large-scale, inclusive celebration of our community’s vibrant arts and cultural offerings and our city’s thriving creativity. Beyond showcasing the full scope of the arts in Boulder, in 2020 the 7th annual Boulder Arts Week will feature FREE and DISCOUNTED arts and culture offerings, including art walks, exhibitions, performances, dance, music, theater, public art, lectures, readings, and workshops at venues throughout the city. BLDG 61 TOOLS & EQUIPMENT The following tools are available during BLDG 61’s scheduled Drop-In events: Lulzbot 3D printers, Othermill CNC machine, vinyl cutter, sewing machines, sergers, embroidery machine, looms, spinning wheels, electronics bench, soldering irons, airbrush, and more depending on availability. The following woodshop tools are available during Shop 61 events: table saw, jointer/planer, drum sander, bandsaw, chop saw, oscillating spindle sander, edge sander, track saw, vacuum press, workbench, clamps, various jigs, and hand tools. The Shopbot CNC Machine and Epilog Laser Cutters are available during their respective tool orientation and guided practice events.
