WELCOME to Issue 37 of our Bourkes Magazine! Rental Crisis Looming Available rental numbers hit 3000 in Perth this week – the lowest figure in eight years. The same time last year there were 6000 available.

Statistics show 855 properties rented for the week- so there’s less than one month stock available. With the extension of regulations for investors (due to COVID-19), that is another reason why that is investors aren’t returning to buy another property and help alleviate the rental problem. Rents will rise at least 10% this year. This needs to happen to entice more buyers of investment stock into the market. Sales Are Consistent Perth is selling 885 properties a week and this level of activity has been steady for the last three months. There’s 10,600 properties for sale approximately three months stock available. REIWA Success At the last REIWA Annual Ball, Bourkes won the 18th spot in the REIWA Medium Agency Category for value of properties sold in Perth. James Thompson won a Master Salesperson Award for sales in excess of $35 million. Next Quarter 2020 With major infrastructure initiatives announced in the October budget, the Federal Government is targeting job stimulus. This approach hopefully will provide more jobs and stop a rise in unemployment which was previously forecast. This will be an interesting quarter to watch!

The City has welcomed home the Ferry Tram. Built in 1899, this old tram once rattled through South Perth and Como. The tram has now been restored, and lives at Windsor Park, South Perth. Rambla on Swan has officially reopened with a newly renovated deck bar! You can now enjoy sunset drinks in addition to the delicious restaurant food on offer. The piazza at Mindeerup has received national recognition at the 2020 Landscape Architecture Awards on Tuesday 13 October. The multi-million dollar project which was completed earlier this year, has taken out the award in the Tourism category. Landscape architect PLACE Laboratory was presented with the award at the annual National Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Awards ceremony, in partnership with Iredale Pederson Hook (IPH) Architects and ETC.
You can also make the most of school holidays by planning a trip to the Perth Zoo! There are still a few restrictions in play, however food trucks, train and carousel rides are in action! Plan ahead by visiting the Perth Zoo website, as pre-purchasing your ticket is still encouraged. Are you planning an office Christmas Party for 2020?
