It’s time for a change! After 25 years, Bourkes new image will now have a new home. We are moving premises from 240 Canning Highway just down the road to 272 Canning Highway (corner of Hobbs Avenue) as of October 1st 2012. We are truly excited about the new opportunities this will bring for Bourkes and our clients. When we discovered that Galaxy video store were closing their doors, we were somewhat saddened, as many of our staff are avid film buffs and were members themselves. However it was an opportunity that arose for us to move to the larger premises we have been in need of for some time. Our current building was once the home for a family of four which was certainly less of a squeeze than we currently have, with almost 20 people now filling the space. Our planned refurbishment will see the building have a complete and well

overdue facelift, from external signage and renovation to internal designer spaces with all the latest office furnishings. To ensure our present and new staff have a pleasant working environment we are providing ergonomic chairs and utilising our new branding colours to keep the space bright and uplifting. To keep you all up to date we will also be using the window space to display our properties via large screen T.V’s. Our clients have remained a priority, as we design a layout that offers a larger reception, a 12 seater boardroom and

he market is improving with strong sales being reported this year. Stock levels are below 13,000 and approaching equilibrium at 12,000 perhaps later in the year. We will have one of the only real estate markets in the world where there is demand pressure and low stocks. We should be eternally grateful we are living here in Perth.

When the market tightens up we predict some owners, who have “warehoused� their sale properties into the rental market, will then decide to sell them. Streaming services are gaining in popularity due to their ability to provide you with access to millions of songs without having to buy the CDs. Spotify is the latest example which has free and premium paid for services. There is an increasing number of specific and general business applications delivered from the cloud. We have quite a number of customers who use hosted email services from Microsoft. It means the business can have an enterprise email solution in a small or micro business. In our business we use a cloud hosted system for our helpdesk which means we can access it from anywhere. It has reduced our overall running cost whist making the business more scalable.

ara knows how important it is to cook good hearty food that doesn’t break the bank . . . as Bourkes Accounts Manager there is no cooking the books for Sara!

Ingredients

BEEF, VEGETABLE & FENNEL SOUP

1 tablespoon of olive oil 500g chuck steak or gravy beef, cut into 2cm pieces 1 medium brown onion, chopped coarsely 2 medium carrots, cut into chunky slices 2 baby fennel bulbs, sliced thinly 4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped 2 teaspoons ground cumin 2 teaspoons ground coriander Pinch of saffron threads Pinch of chilli flakes or fresh chilli 1 litre of vegetable stock or water 1 litre beef stock 400g can diced tomatoes 400g can chickpeas, drained and rinsed 1/4 cabbage, sliced 1 cup frozen baby peas Fresh coriander leaves Crusty bread

This is all you need to do Heat the oil in a saucepan and cook the beef until browned. Add onion, carrot, fennel and garlic, stirring, until the onion softens. Add spices and cook, stirring, until fragrant. Add both the stock and tomatoes, bring to the boil. Reduce heat, simmer, covered for about one and a half hours or until beef is tender. Stir the chickpeas, cabbage and peas into the soup and simmer for a further 5 minutes or so. Serve the soup sprinkled with coriander leaves. Enjoy with the fresh crusty bread.
