BOURKES BLOG 2015 marks the centennial anniversary of the Gallipoli landing in 1915.

100 years ago, Australian and New Zealand forces landed at Gallipolli beach with the goal of securing a pathway for the Allied Forces to the Black Sea. What followed was months of intense conflict as the campaign dragged on, with many soldiers being killed or wounded.

History can also be found wandering through the streets of South Perth and Como. I’m not just talking about the buildings, our very street names are proof of Australia’s remarkable history. Did you It was an event that became know that names such as etched into Australian history, Hobbs, Bessell, Todd, Birdwood and to this day the 25th of April and Ryrie are synonymous with is a day of remembrance and WWI? Each of these street commemoration.
