This course will equip you with cutting-edge techniques as a VR/AR developer such as computer programming, computer graphics and vision tools. VR/AR technology is the engine of cultural and creative industries, and will provide you with a chance to develop your career from traditional animation and games industries to creative industries such as Facebook-metaverse.

The course is delivered within the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA), which is one of the most established and highly regarded centres for animation in the country. The NCCA is well placed to introduce this new BSc (Hons) Virtual & Augmented Reality course based on its strong research expertise in the computer graphics and animation field, as well as its long-standing reputation for outstanding education in the area of computer graphics with applications to computer animation, games and VFX over the past three decades.

The skills you need

To help you develop the skills you need to succeed, you’ll use industry-standard software and hardware tools through accessing the latest commercial peripherals, such as the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, MS hololens, Leap motion and facial expression recognition systems commonly used in VR/AR research and production.

Required skillset

Ultimately the course will give you the skillset required to pursue a variety of roles in industries that use virtual and augmented reality and immersive technology, such as VR/AR developer, computer graphics and vision architect/engineer, unity/unreal engine developer.

The course is effective in equipping you with modern computing and technical skills to pursue a career in the VR/AR and immersive technology industry.
