First established by Sir George Cadbury in 1913 (then known as Bournville Day Continuation School), the function of the school was to provide young people with a sound general education which initially included English, Maths and physical education. Over the hundred years, we have seen a lot of changes and exciting developments. In terms of our campus, we saw our first relocation in 1973 to a site on Bristol Road South in Northfield. Then in 2011, we relocated once again to a purpose build £66 million state-of-the-art campus in Longbridge. Our offer of courses has expanded from general English, Maths and PE to a wide variety of qualifications including A Levels, BTECs, NVQs and apprenticeships in many different subject areas such as art & design, media, music, sport, business, hairdressing, beauty therapy, catering to name just a few. Our new campus features some of the best facilities in the UK, including: • Over 300 computers and laptops, books, Wi-Fi, online learning material and books in the Learning Zone • Commercial hair and beauty salons Urban Elegance and Urban Serenity open to everyone • Urban Flavours restaurant serving high quality affordable food • Urban Fitness gym featuring 70 workstations, sauna and steam room available to our students at a discounted price • The Garage @ Bournville College providing car MOTs and servicing • Construction and Motor Vehicle Maintenance workshops equipped with industry standard equipment • Hi-spec science labs, Mac suites and music studios • Starbucks, student common room Urban Chill and a newsagent Urban News •
