The prospect of building your own home can be intimidating, but it can also be one of the most empowering and rewarding decisions you’ll ever make. That’s the message from Geelong-based customer, Tania, who built the Barcelona 28 with Contempo facade.
Tania first heard about Boutique Homes from her friend seven years ago. An interior design enthusiast, Tania spent many weekends on the display home circuit over the years, but it wasn’t until she entered the Barcelona 28 display home that she knew she had found ‘The One’.
‘I fell in love – the plan was well thought out, spacious, light and bright. Having the theatre and office located at the front of the house also suited my business needs, keeping clients out of the living areas,’ said the freelance make-up artist.

Sean and Clara found ‘The One’ when they built the Marseille
Hailing from South Korea, married couple, Sean and Clara, wanted their first home to be the quintessential Australian abode that had them dreaming of a sandy coastline. Together with their dog, Osman, they found their perfect home with the Marseille.
“I’ll never forget Clara’s happy face when we visited the warm and welcoming house for the first time. I knew then that we’d found ‘The One’,” says Sean.
The Marseille provided the convenience of a rumpus room for future children and a spacious outdoor entertainment area, but the styling offered the perfect springboard for the bright and airy interior design they envisioned.

On the hunt for a ranch style home, Lisa and Paul fell in love with the Montana.
After years of flipping houses in Melbourne, the pair decided it was time to make the move closer to family on the Surf Coast and live a more ‘rural lifestyle’.
On the hunt for space for veggie patches, chickens and a large garden for the dogs, they quickly realised a ranch style home was the floorplan best suited.
“Boutique Homes were one of very few builders that offered a ranch style home, suited for an acreage block. Once we investigated further, to look at cost, timing and overall quality of the buildit became clear Boutique Homes were the only option for us.”

Jess & Jack’s second forever home, the Airlie 38 with Manor facade.
Moving from Bacchus Marsh to Ballan, in the Ballarat region, to secure a larger lot of land. It was important that they had the land so that their kids had space. They moved further out but it was worth it to be able to build a double storey. This is their second forever home.
Jess and Jack, a married couple of eight years, had a clear vision for themselves and their two boys: Kaiden, 7, and Hudson, 4. The young family were keen to find a spacious block of land to build a brand-new home, complete with a puppy and plenty of space for the kids to play.
‘We decided to sell our house in Bacchus Marsh during the pandemic and buy land in Ballan. We were very particular about what we wanted in our forever home, and building meant we could incorporate all the design features important to us,’ explains Jess.
The secret to such a positive build experience? Have a clear vision of what you are trying to achieve – including a list of musthaves – and plenty of research! ‘Trawl through colours and floorplans so you know exactly what’s out there and which builder can make your dream come to life,’ advises Jess.

The Riva flows from the well-appointed kitchen including a walk-in pantry and large island bench through to the open-plan living and dining areas to an outdoor living area that is built under the main roofline, accessible with stacker entertainer doors.
The pair were on the hunt for the holy grail of properties: a big block in an established suburb, with a convenient commute to the city.
They wanted a family-friendly location, with easy access to major shopping centres and local parks.
‘After going to a number of property inspections in our chosen suburbs, we quickly realised that buying established would mean compromising on the floorplan, flow and design of our dream home,’ says Swati.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom Riviera offers a generous sized study and spacious main bedroom at the front. The expansive living area overlooks the backyard, letting in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and airy space throughout the home. ‘At night, we pull down the blinds and close the sheers and it turns into a really warm and cosy space,’ adds Swati.
The Riviera home design and Luxe facade provided the perfect canvas for the couples contemporary styling. A monochromatic mix of black cabinetry, white splashbacks and soft grey tiling is offset by light oak flooring in a romantic herringbone pattern.
‘Throughout all stages of our build, the Boutique Homes representatives were very approachable and responsive,’ says Ben. ‘They made sure any questions were answered promptly.’
Three years after moving into their home, the pair say that the quality of the build remains great. Their 12-month warranty inspection uncovered minimal defects and the home has stood the test of time despite its greatest test – their toddler.

Meg & Will build the Ascot with Hamptons facade
That was the brief for Meg and Will who, together with their two young children, built the Ascot home design with a stunning all white Hamptons facade. The family wanted to build in an area that had a community-feel and was close to beaches and parks, which made the beachside town of Torquay the perfect choice.
‘We wanted to create a home that was more than just four walls. Building your home means it’s something you’ve both worked on together,’ says Meg, who is a design enthusiast with a great eye for interiors.
The Ascot’s two-storey design includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with a powder room and laundry to the lower floor. Two living areas give their growing family plenty of space to play, with the upstairs retreat used for relaxing and watching movies.
The couple took advantage of Boutique Homes’ design flexibility to transform the downstairs media room into an open living space fit for entertaining.
‘Once all the bits and pieces are complete, the final clean has been done and there’s that new home smell… I’d never lived in a brand new home before, so it was surreal and really special,’ says Will.
