PEOPLE"WATCHING Introducing... Brazilian socialite and trendse.er Angelle Vielma. As we do in every issue of Boutique, we love to apply our considerable investigative skills to uncover an internationally renowned fashion diva as she engages in activities that are not so “ chi chi ”. Recently, we caught up with socialite and sometime model/actress Angelle Vielma. Boutique learns from a mutual friend that Angelle, who calls home the Ipanema section of Rio de Janiero and maintains a pied a terre in Paris, that she will be stopping in Sea.le, Washington. She agreed to allow us to shadow her. For you readers who are not entirely familiar with American geography, Sea.le is on the upper Pacific coast of the U.S. and is be.er known for its enormous trees and salmon than it is for its haute couture. 8:45 AM Met Angelle for breakfast in the lobby of the historic and quite majestic FairmontHotel. I order a la(e and a croissant. Angelle orders an Espresso. That explains her 00 figure. Always chic, she is dressed in black leather leggings, a long black-sleeved tee and a fi(ed military jacket. But will she be able to navigate the city in 5-inch heels? 9: 00 AM Angelle gracefully removes her Manolo’s and replaces them with the new comfortable Shakoha ankle boot, by Anna Sui for Sam Adelman. Why wasn’t I so intelligent? She skilfully applies deep red lipstick (Chanel of course) to her perfectly shaped lips and sprays a bit of Chanel No. 5. What else does she have in her Mui Mui bag? We are off. 09:15 We stroll down Fi'h Avenue past Feraggomo, Cartier, Hermes, Gucci etc, etc, etc. Um! Fi'h Avenue. Sea(le. Who knew? We pop into Armani. Angelle makes an almost mental note that this collection is entirely different from the Milan line. She tries on a rain hat. Of course, it looks great. She makes a quick purchase and as if on cue, it begins to drizzle. Is she prescient? Magically, she removes a Burberry umbrella from her bag and places the rain hat on my head. Thank you, Angelle 09:45 We take a ferry across Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island. It is a bit chilly but the ride is 54refreshing. Angelle pulls out of her magic bag a

caramel - coloured cashmere patina. A'er a 30-minute ride, we head to Winslow, which is the historic section of the Island. It is rustically charming, filled with li(le boutiques that showcase up - and - coming clothing designers, jewellers and artists. We enter one of the many vintage stores where her trained eye discovers a fabulous fur gilet. Mental note; Angelle’s taste is eclectic. 13:00 Stop in Sea(le Coffee for a coffee to go and take a stroll through the Bloedel Reserve. The various gardens, ponds and meadows are breathtaking. Reminder-next time I visit Sea(le bring comfortable shoes. 14:00 Back to the Ferry. I can’t believe what time it is. As my stomach growls, I appreciatively realize that we are in front of IL Terrazzo Carmin, one of the chicest Italian restaurants in Sea(le. It emanates the sumptuous odours of basil and garlic. Despite the drizzle, we sit outside under an awning and enjoy the view. Lunch turns into a twohour, much needed, rest fest 16 :00 Rush, rush, rush. Angelle has an appointment for a fi(ing. She unexpectedly must a(end a charitable event for the Gates Foundation tomorrow night and need s something to wear. Where else would she go but Nordstrom’s, which has its flagship store in Sea(le. The couture Ralph Lauren gown that she chooses could not look be(er. 18 :00 Pike Place Market. This is a huge outdoor market (one of the oldest and largest in the Country) that has stand a'er stand of fruits, vegetables and of course, fresh fish. She purchases some salmon. A friend of hers, who happens to be a gourmet chef (and a Microso' exec), will prepare dinner for us. 19:00 A quick stop at the hotel to freshen up.
