THE BOUVERIE CENTRE presents

Dr Kari Valtanen live from Finland Practice ideas from the Open Dialogue approach to mental health issues in Western Lapland 17 Sept 2015. 3 - 5pm AEST. Join us in person at The Bouverie Centre for a two-hour live broadcast from Finland. Open Dialogue is both a philosophical/theoretical approach to people experiencing a mental health crisis and their families/networks, and a system of care. Family therapy trained practitioners work together as part of Open Dialogue teams. These teams engage with everyone connected to the crisis, including the person at the centre, their family and social networks. Meetings occur preferably within the homes of those seeking services. Teams respond quickly and seek to treat symptoms and client concerns, not diagnoses; engaging in open two way dialogue with clients, families and social networks.
