With a reputation as an exclusive seaside resort, Frinton-on-Sea retains an atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties and Thirties. Tree-lined avenues sweep down to the elegant Esplanade and cliff-top greensward, with its colourful Victorian-style beach huts.

Our busy Coastal Branch, based in Connaught Avenue, covers the Essex Coast and provides both residential sales and lettings covering areas including Frinton-on-Sea, Clacton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze and the surrounding villages. The branch also offers a Holiday Lettings service capitalising on the continuing popularity of Frinton as a holiday destination.

Matthew Hayward, Branch Manager matthew. hayward@ boydens.co.uk

Matthew is the Branch Manager of Boydens Coastal Branch and lives in nearby Clacton-on-Sea.

About Me I began working for Boydens in 2015 and have been working in estate agency for more than ten years, beginning my career in my home town of Clacton-on-Sea. I became Branch Manager of our Coastal Branch in 2021. I am an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club and also a member of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).

My Day to Day As you may imagine, no two days are exactly the same, but my principal task each day is to support colleagues in gaining new business and in representing the branch. This support includes sales and lettings, and will also see me carrying out valuations for new vendors and landlords. I am also responsible for the development and growth of our holiday lettings business which, over the last six months has been improved with the introduction of new management software to make booking easier for our clients.

What I love about my job The team is what makes the job great. We are a solid team, and we work together hard to create a pleasant and productive work atmosphere, which benefi ts both us and our clients. I especially enjoy my knowledge being tested by our clients and it always brings a sense of satisfaction to know that my knowledge has helped to guide a landlord, for example. In addition, I enjoy looking for opportunities to expand the business here on the coast.

I can help you with... As Branch Manager, I am able to assist you if you are looking to sell or let your property. I am also able to advise you if you are considering venturing into the holiday lettings market (see page 26).

About Me I was born in Colchester and was raised in the Stour Valley area, growing up in and around farming. I moved to the Essex Coast four years ago. I am a keen horse rider.

My Day to Day A lot of my daily tasks involve speaking to landlords regarding tenancies, carrying out viewings, speaking with current and potential future tenants, and also organising the practical elements of our holiday lettings business, including the cleaning of properties and administration of bookings.

What I love about my job I really enjoy the variety of my work – each day is diff erent. In this job it is vital to build up relationships with your landlords which makes the whole job a lot easier. We have a good team here with a great atmosphere. I always enjoy seeing the excitement of people moving into their home, and it is very rewarding knowing that I have played a part in putting together a happy tenant and landlord.

I can help you with... If you are a landlord looking to move your residential property portfolio or expand it, I can help. At Boydens, we know what the lettings market is doing and can advise on the best rates of return. In addition, if you are considering a holiday letting opportunity, come and talk to me. I also enjoy being creative with my photo and video work where we take care to enhance our photography, which never fails to impress clients. Carrying out viewings on beach huts we sell is also an enjoyable part of the job (especially when the weather is sunny!)
