People need “closure” to move on mentally from the worst ravages of COVID-19, according to the AHA|SA’s Deputy GM, Anna Moeller.

“Restrictions have been lifted and by and large we’re about to move to a personal responsibility model,” she said.

“Moving forward you may find that you have some staff members that actually contract COVID-19. And we all know that there's a skills shortage, we all know that we need every worker on deck.”

She said some staff may be asymptomatic and still wish to come to work, so publicans will need to have workplace policies on how they keep the rest of their workplace safe.

Anna suggested it may be appropriate to have policies for asymptomatic staff, such as wearing a mask at work, social distancing, not using shared lunch room facilities etc.

Some staff may be asymptomatic and still wish to come to work, so publicans will need to have workplace policies on how they keep the rest of their workplace safe.

She also stressed the need to safeguard patrons. This included having hand sanitiser freely available, maintaining social hygiene signage, having a supply of masks and encouraging people to feel comfortable wearing masks if they want to.

“We're all grownups and we're now literally living with COVID-19 back in the workplace and out and about.

“So that’s the last thing that you’re going to hear from me in relation to COVID-19.

“COVID-19 – that’s a wrap!”
