byrd at the Glassworks
Documenting a series of small interventions at the Canberra Glassworks as part of the ‘Thats not glass’ residencies over the winter of 2015.
The opportunity to hang around the Canberra Glassworks over the winter responding to and with the building on the 100th anniversary of its construction, has been a lot of fun. I have chosen to avoid ‘hero pieces’ and to work discreetly. The opportunity is for the audience to pay closer attention to the space itself, by way of finding my trace. These traces are built from a fixed set of parts. With a limited pallet drawn from the ongoing research of my studio practice. Each is a response to the space it exists in. Big thanks to everyone who made this possible. There is a cheat sheet/ Map at the back of this pamphlet. byrd
The poolside image is a mural produced in another space during this residency, with the support of Ron & Jenny Lees.
