The Downtown Bozeman Association Presents the 2021 Christmas Stroll Poster Contest Winner
T
he Christmas Stroll is one of the longest-standing Bozeman community traditions! Each year, the Downtown Bozeman Association and the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture team up to put out a “call for art” for the official Christmas Stroll Poster design. As the icing on top, the Downtown Bozeman Association and the Emerson pool together a $200 cash prize for the winning artist. As with every year, several creative and festive designs were submitted, but the winning design stood out as the clear winner with its traditional design and clean look. The 2021 Christmas Stroll Poster

Billion’s Greg Baker to Host this year’s Christmas Stroll Alongside the Man from the North Pole:
Santa Claus
by Margo Haft
H
e wears a red velvet suit, has a white bushy beard, and is coming to this year’s 41st annual Christmas Stroll. Can you take a guess? It’s Santa Claus! There’s no one who enjoys putting smiles on kid’s faces more than Santa Claus. Santa, who has made annual visits to the Gallatin Valley Mall for the past nine years, has added one more job to his list this year: appearing at the Stroll. The Chronicle arranged an interview with his best friend Frank Marble to get all the details of his appearance at this year’s Stroll. Making kids happy is his “life’s work,” a truth Santa knows more than anyone. He said he just, “loves being with the kids.” In fact, Santa was asked by a kid one time why he is so jolly. His response? Because being jolly is in his nature. If being jolly sums up his personality, then being a “huggable-grandpa,” as he put it, sums up his demeanor. His big heart and warm wel-
coming presence will deliver the kids and adults a holiday spirit pick-me-up. Santa will appear in the parade this year held on Main Street. The parade will begin at 4:30 at the intersection of Grand & Main and finish at Rouse & Main. He will use “Santa’s magic” to light the tinsel that drapes above the Street, touching the buildings on both sides of Main. The tinsel is also known as the spiders. The lighting ceremony is a long-standing tradition of the Christmas Stroll, and a mark of holiday spirit on Main Street Bozeman. The Chief Joseph Middle School Choir will showcase their musical talent in this year’s parade. Other local choirs and groups are singing throughout the stroll as well. Following the parade, there will be activities and delicious bites to eat from a plethora of food trucks. Kids can also meet Santa at the Baxter after the parade to take photos and share their Christmas wishes. Standing by Santa’s side, meet this year’s Master of Ceremonies, Greg Baker who
will help lead the way. As the advertising and marketing director of Billion Auto Group, you may recognize his outgoing personality from the Billion commercials. Greg, who has a big heart for the Bozeman community, is most excited about being a part of something where people can have a good time. “The Christmas Stroll this year will mean a regathering and a reconnection of people who didn’t get that last year. It will be great to see everyone’s faces again, to see everyone reconnect for a common thing.” What he remembers most from past strolls are the abundance of food trucks. “You just walk up and down the street and just have basically a buffet of fantastic food from different vendors.” When Greg was asked If he expects there to be any personal challenges, his response was a simple no. “I think it’s going to be so nice to be out there, I think everyone is going to be in a good mood, the town and all the downtown businesses will
be happy it’s happening.” Many activities for all-ages will make those memories come to life. These include children’s crafts, gingerbread house contest viewing, and a Glow Show by Endeavor Ballooning. It’s fair to say that the absence of last year’s Christmas Stroll has a lot of people excited that it’s happening this year. To be together enjoying the season and making memories is something to celebrate. Greg said that the holiday season, especially this year, will be “really nice for families to be able to get together, gather, and enjoy each other. Rekindling of relationships and friendships, and maybe making new friends going forward. That’s what this season is going to mean to us.”
