C
omplete with horses, sleigh rides and and lots of spirit, this year’s annual Christmas Stroll is shaping up to be a magical event — even Santa Claus will be there.
The annual holiday season celebration will be held downtown on Dec. 1, with plenty of activities for everyone in the family to enjoy. There will be plenty of shopping, hay wagon rides, pictures with Santa, a gingerbread house display, Christmas carol singers, and more. For the foodies in the family, there will be more than 40 food vendors. The day will kick off with a Santa Run put on by the Bozeman Schools Foundation at 10:15 a.m., followed by gingerbread house making from 12:30 to 4:15 p.m. at the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture. From 2 to 6 p.m., there will also be live performances and festive activities at Bozeman Public Library.

If extreme weather conditions are present, the race organizer reserves the right to cancel.
The Stroll’s festivities kick-off beginning with the procession at 4:30 p.m. lead by Santa and this year’s master of ceremonies, AKA Santa’s right-hand man, XL Country morning show host Dave Wooten. “I will be the handsome gentleman in the tuxedo and top hat next to Santa,” Wooten said. “I’m hoping this will help me get in with Santa this year.” The two will make their way down Main and illuminate the Christmas lights on main as carolers sing. After that, there will be horse-drawn sleigh rides starting at Soroptomist Park. Sleigh and horse owner Paul Zitzer said he’ll have his black Perchon draft horses taking the sleigh containing Santa down main, with a team of gray mares doing community sleigh rides. “They’re very gentle, very willing and super friendly and nice,” Zitzer said about his gray mares, who are about 18 years old. One of Santa’s closest friends in the Gallatin Valley is Skip Tinder, and he arranged an interview with Santa for the Chronicle, and he said he’s excited to for the event. “It’s really rewarding knowing that you’re making kids happy,” he said. “My biggest thing is making the kids feel important and like Santa is going to make sure and do his best for them.” Santa always tries to ask kids what they want and for Christmas and to give them a candy cane when he visits with them. He will be available for pictures in the Baxter Hotel until 7:30 p.m. before heading back up to the North Pole, so be sure to catch him while he’s still around.
