GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY 2024 2

Welcome to Give Big Gallatin Valley 2024!

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CEO

In just a few days, on May 2nd and May 3rd, our community will unite once again for a monumental occasion – the 10th anniversary of One Valley Community Foundation’s Give Big Gallatin Valley. This event has become a beacon of hope, generosity, and community spirit over the past decade, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished together.

As we reflect on the journey that brought us to this milestone, we are humbled by the incredible impact we’ve made. In our first year, we had a bold vision to raise $100,000 for 100 nonprofits in Gallatin County over 24 hours. Since its inception in 2015, Give Big has evolved into a transformative force for good in Gallatin County, raising over $14.3 million from thousands of generous individuals like you. These funds have supported hundreds of nonprofit organizations, empowering them to make a tangible difference in our community.

Year after year, we’ve witnessed the power of collective action. Give Big has not only provided vital financial support to organizations serving Gallatin County, but it has also fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie among our neighbors. It’s a testament to the strength of our community and the generosity of its people.

We are deeply inspired by the dedication and compassion displayed by each and every one of you. Your contributions – of all sizes – have a ripple effect that reverberates throughout Gallatin County, shaping a brighter future for us all.

At its core, Give Big Gallatin Valley is a celebration of our shared values and our commitment to building a better tomorrow. It’s a day for you, your family, and your friends to rally behind the causes that matter most to you. It’s a day to embrace the spirit of giving and to champion the organizations that make Gallatin County such a special place to call home.

As we embark on this historic 10th year of Give Big, we invite you to join us in making a difference. Whether you give your time, your voice, or your financial support, know that your generosity will leave a lasting impact on our community.

Together, let’s continue to write the story of Give Big Gallatin Valley – a story of compassion, resilience, and hope. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey and here’s to the next decade of making a difference, together.

Cheers to 10 years!

WHAT IS GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY?

Give Big Gallatin Valley is a celebration of giving that multiplies generosity and amplifies the missions of hundreds of Gallatin County nonprofits. Since 2015, the initiative has raised over $14.3 million for 425 local nonprofits, making it Montana’s largest 24-hour giving day.

On May 2nd and 3rd, our community will come together for the 10th annual Give Big, united by one common goal: to raise $3 million for 273 local nonprofits in 24 hours. YOU can join the effort by visiting GiveBigGV.org from 6 pm May 2nd to 6 pm May 3rd and donating to the cause you care about!

The goals of Give Big are to…

Raise the level of knowledge about nonprofit organizations in our county and highlight their positive impact on our well-being.

Support the operating needs of Gallatin County nonprofits through donations and cash prizes.

Grow the base of engaged donors in Gallatin County – bringing new donors to our nonprofit organizations.

Build a sense of community and collaboration amongst the nonprofit sector and our community.

Increase nonprofit capacity and professionalism through Give Big trainings, consultations, and mentorship.

It’s up to you. You can participate from the convenience of your home by donating at GiveBigGV.org, or you can attend a nonprofit event to connect with the causes you care about face-to-face (see full events schedule on pages 30-33). This year, One Valley Community Foundation has partnered with community leaders to host Give Big Fest, which will include collaborative community celebrations in Big Sky, Belgrade, Bozeman, Three Forks, and West Yellowstone on the evening of Thursday, May 2nd; more information about Give Big Fest can be found on page 30.

WHO CREATED GIVE BIG?

In 2015, One Valley Community Foundation hosted the inaugural Give Big Gallatin Valley with the goal of raising $100,000 for 100 nonprofits in 24 hours. Since then, Give Big has continued to play a pivotal role in its mission of connecting people who care to the

causes that matter to ensure all can thrive in Gallatin County.

One Valley Community Foundation does not take a portion of any gifts made during Give Big and is not eligible for prizes. If you are interested in supporting One Valley and the future of Give Big, consider making a gift through its profile on GiveBigGV.org or through Tip the Host at checkout. To learn more about One Valley, see next page.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Anyone and everyone. Give Big is designed to multiply generosity of any size. Whether you donate $5 or $5,000, you’re investing in the future of your community.

WHY SHOULD I GIVE BIG?

By Giving Big, you are doing more than donating to your favorite organizations; you are joining a generosity movement that celebrates and supports the nonprofits that make Gallatin County such a special place to live today and for generations to come.

When you give during Give Big…

… you’re providing funding to support nonprofits where they need it most.

… your giving goes further. Your gift could help your favorite organization win one of over $25,000 worth of prizes.

… your gift could be doubled through a matching gift or challenge organized by the nonprofit.

…. you are supporting a thriving nonprofit sector that is pivotal in fostering a strong and vibrant Gallatin County.

HOW DO THE PRIZES WORK?

Your online gift during Give Big could help your favorite organization win a nonprofit prize. During the 24 hours of Give Big 50, prizes totaling $25,000 will be awarded to participating nonprofits.

Visit givebiggv.org/prizes for the full list of prizes and learn how to support your favorite nonprofit’s chances of winning.

ARE GIFTS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

All donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable and will be for the unrestricted use of your chosen charity.

HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION GOES TO THE NONPROFIT?

All donations will be paid to the chosen charity. Of your online donation, only 4.5% + $0.30 will be retained by the credit card companies and the platform GiveGab. You can choose to cover those fees during checkout. Donations made by check directly to a nonprofit or through One Valley Community Foundation won’t incur any fees. One Valley Community Foundation does not receive any portion of the donations or transaction fees.

WHAT IF I CAN’T FIND MY FAVORITE NONPROFIT ON THE WEBSITE?

Not all local nonprofits choose to participate in Give Big. If an organization you support has not registered for Give Big 2024, encourage them to contact us (info@onevalley. org) so they can register for the May 2025 event. To participate, an organization must be a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit located in or serving Gallatin County.

About One Valley Community Foundation

At One Valley Community Foundation, we believe in the power of all people to make a difference in their communities. As advocates for local change, we identify and address the priorities and concerns of our growing community by facilitating community-wide conversations, supporting local nonprofits, and connecting donors with the needs in their community. By bringing people together, we chart a path to a healthy and vibrant future for Gallatin County.

Building on trust, dedication, and the belief that giving back brings people together, One Valley Community Foundation is poised to grow in exciting new ways. But we know we can’t do it alone. With the support of a community united by the power of giving, we seek to:

Partner with donors to maximize the impact of their giving by establishing funds on their behalf and helping them give back in meaningful ways.

• Currently, One Valley manages 64 charitable funds totaling nearly $22 million on behalf of 50 donors.

• In 2023, the funds held at One Valley provided $2.6 million in support to 301 nonprofits, with 86% of the funding going to Gallatin County nonprofits.

• Looking forward, we plan to strengthen our connections with current fund-holders, attract more donors, and, with their help, make an even bigger impact on local nonprofits.

• Our intentionally designed programs, like Nonprofit Cafe and Advancement Academy, are successfully strengthening nonprofits’ effectiveness, raising awareness, and creating an environment where local nonprofits can thrive.

• From regional growth to fundraising challenges, our nonprofit sector is built on resilience, collaboration, and highquality services. The programs provided by One Valley address current needs, build community, and support long-term success.

• Building on our proven success, we are expanding what’s working well, planning new approaches to future needs, and developing creative partnerships to help our local nonprofits thrive.

Bring together local changemakers to develop creative solutions to our communities’ most pressing challenges.

Empower community members to give back by providing accessible opportunities to support the causes they care about.

• One Valley’s annual Give Big Gallatin Valley inspires thousands of donors to make contributions – large and small – to the causes they care about.

• Give Big has raised over $14.3 million in just nine years through nearly 83,000 gifts to support 425 local nonprofits.

• With growing support, Give Big Gallatin Valley can introduce new donors to the joy of giving, strengthen connections with existing supporters, and ensure that local nonprofits can make a difference in Gallatin County for years to come.

Support our community’s nonprofits through educational programs, resources, and networking opportunities, helping them to better deliver their inspiring missions.

• Through community-wide initiatives, One Valley takes a bird’s-eye view of the challenges affecting Gallatin County, ensuring all voices are heard to create solutions that have the greatest positive impact.

• Today, our focus is on local housing challenges in Gallatin County. One Valley’s Regional Housing Coalition brings together experts and decision-makers to tackle these challenges headon through creative partnerships and innovative solutions.

• At One Valley, we continue to support solutions to local housing challenges and stand ready to address future needs in our community with thoughtful, proven leadership and collaboration.

We are proud of our achievements and ability to meet our communities’ changing needs. However, we know the work of a community foundation is never done. We envision a Gallatin County where people work alongside neighbors to invest in and build vibrant and equitable communities. We welcome new partners and supporters to help us achieve this vision.

Whether you are a donor, nonprofit leader, government official, or passionate community member, you are part of One Valley. Get to know your community foundation, and let us help you be a part of charting a course for the future of Gallatin Valley. Learn more at onevalley.org.

South North Nexus

Listening and learning is at the center of South North Nexus’s (SNN) community driven work. SNN is reaching out to invite you to join us in supporting our healing gardening and art program, which has the potential to profoundly impact the lives of young individuals and their families.

A DECADE OF GIVING

Many youth, including immigrant and native children, face unique challenges as they navigate unfamiliar environments and strive to overcome the trauma of their past. Our healing gardening programs offer children a safe haven—a space where they can reconnect with nature, cultivate resilience, and find healing amidst adversity We can share many stories from our experiences, for example in Ciudad Juarez where children like Julio were able to find solace in nurturing plants and forging meaningful connections within his family and in the broader community With your support, we can expand our program to reach even more youths in Bozeman and Montana, providing them with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

South North Nexus uses an innovative approach to build resilient livelihoods bringing people together to address communities’ key challenges with a focus on climate resiliency, migration, women’s empowerment, social justice, food security and water access. South North Nexus (SNN) works locally in the Gallatin Valley and internationally, and is led by Deborah Hines who is a 4th generation Montanan. Join us to create a nurturing environment where all youth can grow, learn, and flourish, despite the challenges they may face.
