LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR I am often asked what I love most about this community. While I could make a long list, if pressed for one, I would have to say that it’s the people that inspire me. Gallatin County is full of hardworking neighbors who care deeply about this place. They see a need and they find a way to be a part of the solution. That’s how we’ve cared for each other for generations. As our region grows, this is how we will continue to build a strong, vibrant community. 10
ONE VALLEY
One Valley Community Foundation supports the shared desire to care for this special place by making it easier for people to connect causes that matter. One of the best ways we help is Give Big, an annual celebration of local nonprofits and the communities that support them. In 2015, the first Give Big shattered our goal of raising $100,000 for 100 nonprofits by raising $237,000. Over the last six years, Give Big has continued to grow. Last year’s event raised over $1.8 million despite the last minute need to pivot to an all-virtual event. When it counted - our community gave more than ever before. To date, our community has raised nearly $6 million for local nonprofits through Give Big. We are proud to support nonprofits from Bozeman to Three Forks and Belgrade to Big Sky. While the dollars raised and donors inspired grows each year, the goal of Give Big has stayed the same. Give Big inspires us to come together, take pride in our all our communities, and contribute to the life-changing work of local nonprofits throughout Gallatin County. This has never been more important than it is today. The One Valley Community Foundation will host the 7th annual Give Big initiative May 6 - 7 from 6 p.m. on Thursday to 6 p.m. on Friday. Can we do it together?
HOW CAN I GIVE BIG MAY 6 AND 7?
1. Give online:
Go to www.givebiggv.org and find a cause you care about and give big!
2. Give a gift of check:
You can write a check directly to the nonprofit you would like to support and mail it directly to that nonprofit or you can give to multiple organizations via one check by filling out an Offline Donation Form available at GiveBigGV.org and bringing it to The One Valley Community Foundation at 815 Manley Rd. Suite C. Bozeman, MT 59715 by 2:00pm on Friday, May 7th.
Our goal is to engage 7,000 residents across the county in 24-hours to give to causes that matter most to them. This year, more than 200 nonprofits in our area are participating in our giving day. All online gifts will help your favorite nonprofit win prizes from a pool of funds and services that has been raised by the Community Foundation, generous local businesses and foundations. Additionally, many nonprofits have secured matching funds to help your gift go farther on Give Big day. While we will not have the chance to come together in person to celebrate as a community as we have in the past due to COVID-19, celebrating together online is more important than ever. Each donation matters - whether it’s $10 or $50. Together, they turn into something BIG because strong and vibrant communities don’t happen by accident.

About the One Valley Community Foundation One Valley takes a holistic, future-focused approach to our work because we know that strong and vibrant communities don’t happen by accident. As the Gallatin Valley’s Community Foundation, we take a bird’s eye view of the issues facing our communities, plan for the future, and help address current needs. By assisting other nonprofits, connecting donors and engaged community members with causes that are meaningful to them, and gathering people to discuss important issues, we help maintain what makes this valley special and imagine the possibilities for an even better future. One Valley Community Foundation, formerly known as the Bozeman Area Community Foundation, has been providing support for donors, nonprofits and community leaders since 1998.
We inspire impactful giving by:
1
2
Connecting donors with effective organizations by: • Providing one-on-one donor education and support to reach specific goals • Administering donor advised funds and other giving tools for individuals, families and businesses • Helping community members build their legacy through strategic giving
Being a conduit, not a container, of resources by coordinating and pooling charitable funds to address larger needs through: • Give Big, One Valley’s annual day of giving, that has raised $6M in 6 years for nonprofits throughout Gallatin County • Broader community funds that support regional issues such as education or supporting local journalism • Funds to support specific nonprofit organizations
3
Stewarding giving in times of crisis through funds that are hosted in partnership with Greater Gallatin United Way: • Southwest Montana COVID-19 Response Fund to support emergency financial assistance, mental and behavioral health, childcare grants, and emerging needs grants • Bridger Foothills Fire Fund to streamline the allocation of funds to individuals and families impacted by the recent fire and directing support to organizations responding to the immediate emergency and serving the community in the months that followed
We strengthen the local nonprofit sector by:
1
2
Providing high-quality trainings for nonprofit professionals and boards such as: • Monthly Nonprofit Café: Free educational and collaborative gathering for all nonprofit leaders to learn best practices of the nonprofit sector • Board Launch: Four-part training designed to prepare nonprofit board members for service and set them up to be rock star leaders. • Executive Director Roundtable Conversations: Bi-weekly gathering facilitated by One Valley to provide space for nonprofit executive directors to connect, to learn from their peers, and to share ideas and challenges they are facing.
Champion the work of other nonprofits, supporting them through education and funding opportunities such as: • Annual Grant Cycle: Grantmaking from our Community Endowment Fund to support emerging needs in Gallatin County • Youth Giving Project: Program to teach middle school and high school students about the grantmaking process and empowering them to grant out funds to youth-led initiatives in their communities. • Facilitating the distribution of emergency reliefs funds: Through funds like our Southwest Montana COVID-19 Response Fund or our Bridger Foothills Fire Relief Fund
We unite organizations, governments, and citizens in the Gallatin Valley by: Gathering voices together to identify issues and needs and work toward results through initiatives like: • Seat at the Table: A one-day, county-wide community conversation initiative to engage residents in discussing ways we can continue to strengthen our community • Regional Housing Council: A council to bring together diverse key stakeholders to take on the unique and pressing challenges of housing that is affordable in Gallatin County. • Bozeman/Gallatin Complete Count Committee for the U.S. Census: To support outreach to increase engagement in the recent census.
If you are a donor, a nonprofit leader, a government official or a passionate community member – you are part of One Valley. Get to know us better and let us help you be a part of the region’s community driven vision for a vibrant and thriving Gallatin Valley. Learn more at www.onevalley.org.

A DAY OF GIVING?
WHAT IS A DAY OF GIVING?
WHY SHOULD I GIVE BIG?
A day of giving is a 24-hour celebration of giving. Go to GivBigGV.org, find a cause you care about and donate.
Give Big is a special event that encourages a community-wide celebration of giving. Plus, when you give during Give Big, your gift can help your favorite nonprofit win prizes to make your giving go further! Your gift may also help nonprofits qualify for matching gifts they’ve secured to bolster their fundraising efforts through Give Big. Each donation during Give Big will help nonprofits better serve our community.
WHAT IS GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY? Give Big simplifies your giving and amplifies your impact. In just six years, Give Big has raised nearly $6 million for hundreds of nonprofits through thousands of donors like you. Give Big provides nonprofits the opportunity not only gain public exposure but also to receive financial support from donors and find new volunteers. As a community member, you have the chance to find and support organizations whose missions align with your passions.
WHEN IS THE EVENT? Give Big will be hosted on Thursday, May 6th to Friday, May 7th from 6pm - 6pm.

HOW DO THE PRIZES WORK?
WHO CREATED GIVE BIG? The One Valley Community Foundation is honored to organize this event each year. We are invested in bringing awareness to the local nonprofit organizations that make our community a vibrant place for us to live, work, and play. Nonprofit organizations play a critical role in all our lives and as a Community Foundation, we are deeply dedicated to supporting the good work that they do. The goal of the Give Big program is to: · Raise the level of knowledge about nonprofit organizations in our county and highlight their positive impact on our well-being. · Support the operating needs of nonprofit organizations that serve Gallatin County through cash prizes made possible by our generous sponsors. · Grow the base of engaged donors in Gallatin County – bringing new donors to our nonprofit organizations. · Spotlight the charitable trends in our community. Where are we giving? What are our nonprofit organizations saying is vital and needed right now? The One Valley Community Foundation does not take a portion of any gifts during Give Big. We only receive gifts made directly to our profile, and we are ineligible to win prizes. To find out more about the Foundation, see page - (insert page number of community foundation description).
Online donations made during Give Big may help your favorite organization win prizes! There are over 60 cash prizes being awarded this year totaling over $20,000. You can increase your giving by when and how you give! For example, the first 21 donations, starting at 6pm on May 6th, will have $100 added to them. Or the three new nonprofits who get the most donors, during the 24 hours will get a bonus $500 added to their fundraising total. Visit https:// www.givebiggv.org/prizes for the full list of prizes your favorite organizations can win!
WHAT IF I CAN’T FIND MY FAVORITE NONPROFIT ON THE WEBSITE?
ARE GIFTS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
All donations will be paid to the chosen charity. Of your online donation, only 4.2% + $0.30 will be retained by the credit card companies and the platform, GiveGab. Gifts of check made directly to the nonprofit or through the One Valley Community Foundation will not incur a fee. The One Valley Community Foundation will not receive any portion of the donations or transaction fees.
All donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable and will be for the unrestricted use of your chosen charity.
That means they aren’t participating in Give Big. After Give Big 2021, encourage the nonprofit to contact us (info@onevalley.org) so it can register for the May 2022 event! In order to participate, the organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in or serving Gallatin County.
