BPN ANALOG Issue/01 Architect

BPN ANALOG Introduction

In this day and age of technology, things have become really fast

paced, and in some cases instant. Now you longer have to wait for days or weeks for your images to develop and get scanned, and then sent to you. It was a time consuming process, and now you have the liberty to view it right away the moment you click the shutter, be it on your DSLR or your run of the mill smartphone. There are a bunch of reasons, some may like the simplicity of analog cameras, some may like to experiment with the films, and most of us are here because we are willing to learn, share, encourage and create friendships out of our odd decision to take a step back in this fast moving era. In this volume, we have a collection of curated photographs captured entirely on film by our very own local artists focusing on the architectures of Balikpapan, Indonesia, where we are based. It is to show our different perspectives as creatives, and how each used different films and different setting to create their vision.

ARCHITECTURE Architecture Photography is simply photographing the design aesthetics of buildings and structures. (invision studio, 2016)

View form the Window at Le Gras by Niepce taken in 1826 or

1827 was regarded as the first image of architecture photography. Buildings has been highly valued photography subjects and started to become an established visual medium throughout the history. Today’s Architecture Photography has evolved from merely documenting the works of architects which use perspective control, but also to use it to define fine art. For this particular reason, BPN ANALOG choose to pick Architecture as their theme for its first edition. Beside of archiving buildings that are built in Balikpapan they also let their creativity goes beyond that and captured their vision or imagination. From skyscrapers to shacks, we can find architecture everywhere on a daily basis. We hope this zine will drives you to see architectural works from different point of view and inspires you to take your camera out, walk and documenting your world of architecture.
