chool Council Elections 2019 At the close of our call for nominations, we had received four nominations for the “parent member category” of school council. Given that we now have four standing nominations and four vacancies in the parent member category of school council, I automatically declare elected those four candidates without the need for the school community to go to election. Congratulations are extended to Sandra Prvulj, Jessica Okirua, Bhaskar Gaur and Sadaf Qaiser. Whilst Sandra is embarking upon her fourth term of office at Brentwood Park Primary School, Jessica, Bhaskar and Sadaf are embarking upon their first.

aluing our Reading Recently, our Scholastic Australia representative visited the school to present us with a certificate of recognition. As a school, we raised $3,591 towards free resources for the library. Each time an order is placed at Book Club of one of our Book Fairs, we accrue 'Reward points' to use for literacy and learning resources, not just for the library but for all areas around the school. The fantastic amount we raised in 2018 went towards new books for the library, big books and new teaching resources for the whole school. This certificate was only given to the top 5 schools in the South East Region, including all of Gippsland! Congratulations Brentwood Park and keep reading!!! Annette & Josephine

Sanjana, Morgan, Taya, Ellinah, Leigh, Finlay, Nisini, Axel, Maahi and Emmy were terrific in their first appearance at district level. The up and coming rising star of our school is Min. Still with another year at the same age level, Min was our only individual swimmer to receive a placing, 2nd in butterfly. The 10 year old boys’ team of Min, Hayden, Ujin and Charlie were superb in their victory and will progress to the division competition. Our school finished in 6th place overall, which is a great team result. A special thanks to all of the parents and friends who have supported the swimming team.

Jiangsu Educational Services for International Exchange [JESIE] will provide funding support to partly cover the full cost. Each participant will only pay AUD $2,000 as a package including international airfares and in-country costs (for accommodation, meals, transportation and tours in Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai as well as the sister school visit with homestay). Students and teachers will need to cover own costs for passport, visa and insurance. The insurance can be organized by individuals/ parents or through the Department of Education. The JESIE team will assist in organising the whole trip, including the air-tickets, in-country tours as listed, and the sister school visit. For the international flights, two airlines will be considered – Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airlines. Both students and teachers will be staying in hotels during the tours in Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai. The Victorian schools will travel together and will attend a Welcome Ceremony in Nanjing before travelling to respective sister schools. An information night will be scheduled for those families interested in their child participating in this wonderful, cultural opportunity.

LEASE DIRECT MONEY FOR EXCURSIONS, ETC TO YOUR CLASSROOM TEACHER - NOT TO THE OFFICE.

Please hand money and permission slip in sealed envelopes to classroom teacher first thing in the morning. By following this process teachers are aware that your child will be attending the excursion and mark them off their lists. Money is collected by office staff and processed each morning and a receipt given back to teachers along with permission slips. All money is tallied and banked daily – no money is left on the premises. If you wish to pay by credit card, a proforma is available from the office. This can be filled out with details and placed in a sealed envelope and handed to your classroom teacher Please deliver cash in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and grade on the front by 9.30 a.m. If you have a number of children attending an excursion you can place all money and permission slips in the one envelope with children’s names and grades on the front and deliver to one of the children’s teachers. The office staff will be able to allocate money to the children’s particular items and distribute permission slips and receipts back to teachers. Envelopes are available at the office. If you have a large amount to be paid or need to process an EFTPOS transaction through a savings account you can make arrangements to pay at the office. We also have a new Qkr payment system on our Skoolbag app. If you download our Skoolbag app and Qkr payment app you can now pay for your child’s excursion on line. All change will be delivered to the children in the afternoon. Re-imbursements will only be made under certain circumstances – they will be made by cheque (no cash transactions are made). Notices are sent out with a final collection time – please adhere to this time. All money and per mission slips ar e required to be sent back by this date – otherwise your child will not be able to attend. This enables us to confirm bookings and numbers with bus companies and organisations we are visiting. Also we need to send details to the Department of Education Emergency Management for all excursions, camps, etc. We also need to accommodate students who will not be attending. We would appreciate it if parents could please follow these processes.
