Design Diversity in 5 styles of home décor by BRABBU Creating a project or decorating a room could be a huge challenge. BRABBU wanted to give some help and created 5 mood-boards with different styles of decor and products: Eclectic, Contemporary, Modern, MidCentury and Classic Style. The idea is to inspire and show the flexibility to adapt to any kind of home design. Eclectic Style 1.HAIKU MIRROR; 2.DELPHI SCREEN; 3.NAMIB 2 SEAT SOFA; 4.SEQUOIA CENTER TABLE; 5.ILLUSTRATION BY KIM KNOLL;

The definition of Eclectic on the free dictionary is “not following any one system, as of philosophy, medicine, etc, but selecting and using what are reconsidered the best elements of all systems”. The eclectic style decoration movement started with the Fine Arts and Architecture; whose artists prided themselves in not adhering to any particular style. Eclectic Style is a mix of high and low, rugged and luxe, bold and quiet. It reflects confidence in your design style and personality. Finding the nirvana between contrast and cohesive is the key to mastering the Eclectic Style. Maintaining balance is keeping proportions and silhouettes consistent, and if you are not sure how to start, choose your 'must have' products and build around those, experimenting with rugs, lighting, artwork and decor. The word "contemporary" means of the moment, making hard to define this style. Dating back to the 1970s, this style is unique because it borrows elements from many other movements. In contemporary, you can see inclinations to modern, traditional, art deco and even futuristic design. A contemporary design style of decoration is defined by simplicity, subtle sophistication, deliberate use of texture and clean lines. The focus is on colour, space and shape, which are sleek and fresh. The colours in the contemporary style are mainly neutrals, black and white. The palette is often punched up and accented with bright and cold that play against the neutrals. BRABBU, inspired by this style, has created this mood-board to get your inspiration flowing. Here the Contemporary characteristics are self-evident: the clean geometric lines, as its possible to see on the Tacca center table and the black and whites, also present in TACCA center table and in the amazing SIKA Rare Edition I armchair.
Modern Style 3.HULLI MIRROR; 2.NAZCA SIDEBOARD; 3.NAJ RESTFOOT; 4.GRASBERG FIRE PIT; 5.NAU SOFA; 6.MINIMAL GEOMETRIC COMPOSITION BY TILMAN; 7.CYRUS WALL LIGHT
The Modern Style is usually mistaken with the Contemporary Style. It was birthed on a design movement
which started around the turn of the 20th century, and celebrates natural materials, neutral or earthy colours, and eliminates unnecessary detailing. The philosophy behind the modern style makes it the perfect decorating style for those who like simple, uncluttered space with clean lines and lack of adornments. NAU sofa is one of the good examples to represent this style, in cotton velvet and matte wengue. Modern Style leaves the structural elements of the house exposed, there is an emphasis on horizontal and vertical lines, a celebration of natural light with unadorned windows, natural materials such as unpainted wood, metals, leather and natural fibres with a neutral, natural colour palette. Natural Woods and wood veneers and reflective surfaces such as steel, chrome or glass are also present in this style.
Mid-Century Style 4.KAAMOS MIRROR; 2.ILLUSTRATION BY ISABELLA PAVANATI; 3.TEXTURE BY PRATT LARSON; 4.CANYON SCREEN; 5.HONEYCOMB BLUE GEOMETRIC; 6.TIMBERLINE YELLOW GEOMETRIC; 7.MAYA 2 SEAT SOFA; 8.SIMBA RUG BY RUG’SOCIETY
Although Mid-Century style started in 1933, it comprised the Second World War and reached its end by the mid 1960s, it influenced the fields of architecture, graphic, product and interior design as well. The enduring
popularity of the Mid-Century Modern style is based on many factors. It gave us clean lines, gentle organic
curves, a love for different materials and designers that are idolized even today. The style could be defined by the fusion of nature, as well as its simplicity allied to a luxurious ideal for open floor plans, for places with ample windows, able to bring the outdoors in. A vast range of colour, including colours from neutral to bold, and graphic use of black and white, could be seen in a mid-century home design. Kaamos is the Finnish translation to Polar Night, a natural phenomenon that happens in the Arctic Circle. KAAMOS Mirror took inspiration from this incredible event. With a frame in glossy walnut root veneer, brass, and copper, this round mirror will give a touch of strength and class to any kind of interior design.
Classic Style 5.KYAN MIRROR; 2.ABSTRACT ART BY THE ARTE 123-BLOG; 3.IGUAZO ARMCHAIR; 4.COY SIDE TABLE; 5.MAREE SOFA; 6.ARDARA CONSOLE; 7.WATERCOLOR FLOWER PRINT: “INDIGO BLOSSORMS” BY KARENFAULKNER STUDIO; 8. HABIBIB RUG BY RUG’SOCIETY; 9.NAICCA SUSPENSION LIGHT
Classicism originated in France in the 17th century and quickly spread over Europe, becoming the dominant style for more than two centuries. Artists of that time were inspired by the art of ancient Greece and Rome, namely their rigor, clarity and simplicity.
Classic style does not accept the cheap finish: all materials are natural or unique, and therefore expensive. The colours and contrasts avoid bright hues, and all shades are calm and neutral, making the overall classical interior atmosphere soothing. Most often it is used olive, beige, cream, light green and gold colours in the finishing materials, furniture and textiles. To illuminate the room in classic style, it is often used crystal chandeliers, lamps made of transparent stones or expensive glass. NAICCA suspension light by BRABBU, present in this mood-board, is the perfect luxurious piece to be in classic home design, as it is the representation of the legend of crystal origins. The aged brushed brass structure and the Quartz crystal diffuser merge together to brighten any home decor, filling the room with a strong, yet peaceful atmosphere. Classical interior designing has its own aura and is one which never goes out of style.
