Preliminary report released on plane crash NORTH COLLINS — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its preliminary report detailing findings into the fatal midair plane crash that took place Sept. 24 in North Collins. The report details the incident from eyewitness accounts, confirming the planes — a Cessna and a Piper bound for St. Marys, Pa. from Hamburg with four other planes — collided in midair before crashing. “The Cessna departed first as it was a slower airplane and required more time to fly to OYM,” the report stated, referring to St. Marys Municipal Airport as OYM. “The Piper departed second and two witnesses stated that they observed it climb into the Cessna and shear its tail off, followed by both airplanes descending rapidly to the ground.” Paul Rosiek, of Hamburg, was killed while piloting the Cessna See Crash, Page 5
