The Thompson Palm Springs, the much-anticipated luxury hotel project spanning 2-½ city blocks where Downtown Palm Springs meets the Uptown Design District, is now open, featuring a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, Lola Rose, and a retail front along Palm Canyon Drive with a unique new wine tasting room from HALL Napa Valley, plus a number of national and local retailers. The iconic "Forever Marilyn" statue, currently standing in the center of Museum Way, is set to be relocated to a new spot within Downtown Park, moving just several feet to the north. This decision comes after a prolonged public debate (and lawsuit). The 26-foot-tall statue, which depicts Marilyn Monroe in her famous pose from "The Seven Year Itch," has been a popular tourist attraction but also a source of controversy. DRAG SHOWS IN THE DESERT
In Palm Springs, drag shows have evolved into more than just entertainment; they have become a catalyst for artistic revolution. By championing LGBTQ+ rights and smashing gender norms, drag performances have become a symbol of inclusivity. The city recognizes the impact drag has made on history by proclaiming itself a "Drag Sanctuary City," allowing this art form to thrive.
Drag shows are not exclusive to the queer community; they welcome everyone seeking an extraordinary experience. While applause is appreciated, audience members should go beyond clapping and immerse themselves in the spectacle.
Monday: The Ace Hotel and Swim Club has Bingo & Trivia with Bella da Ball at 7 pm in King’s Highway Restaurant and the Amigo Room. Toucans Tiki Lounge kicks off the week with Latin Fever Monday All Latin Drag Revue & Party hosted by Jesus Coria at 9 pm
Wednesday: On the 4th Wednesday of the month, Playoffs Sports Lounge in Desert Hot Springs brings you Rainbow Drag Trivia at 7 pm and Hunters Nightclub has Drag Me 2 Bingo with Miss Rusty Waters at 6 pm.
