Madisyn and RenoFUSSY

HOW WE MET:

Reno and I have known each other for over 15 years. My first impression was "my best friend's little brother is annoying.” Reno's was more along the lines of “‘I'm going to date her some day.’”

Through my friendship with his sister Rylie, our narrative stayed somewhat the same as we witnessed each other grow and hit life's milestones. It wasn't until the Summer of 2021 that fate decided to intervene.

That summer I decided to move back to the Brainerd lakes area and Rylie asked if I'd golf in a Sunday couples’ league if she found me a partner. As someone who loves to golf, I said yes and she ended up pairing me with Reno.

After a couple of Sundays, I found myself looking forward to our Sunday league because it meant I got to see him. The nervous excitement leading up to the tee time would quickly turn into a fun, relaxing energy as soon as we got into the golf cart together.

It took me a few months to build up the courage and tell him I liked him. Thankfully the feeling was mutual.

I planned a few surprises for Reno's birthday — one being a morning tee time at Deacon's Lodge. Little did I know, he was the one with the bigger surprise!

While we were waiting on the 5th tee box to tee off, Reno asked if I could grab him a golf ball from his bag because he forgot to bring one up with him. I opened up his bag to find only one golf ball which had a bow wrapped around it.

You'd think I would have caught on to what was about to happen then but I didn't.

When I handed him the golf ball, he got down on one knee and opened the ball up revealing the engagement ring. Best surprise of my life.

WEDDING RECAP:

What a fun day! It was important to Reno and I that our wedding felt like us. We started the weekend with a golf scramble on Friday at Madden’s Pine Beach West Course with our family and friends — thankfully both mine and Reno’s teams secured the win! We enjoyed an intimate rehearsal dinner with our bridal party playing lawn games and enjoying barbecue on the shores of Gull Lake. It was a wonderful way to kick off our most memorable weekend. We woke to a beautiful summer day on Saturday, Sept. 2.

After the fun and laughs of getting ready with our wedding parties, we were ready to say “I do!” on the Pavilion Lawn at Madden’s. After the ceremony, we enjoyed signature cocktails on the patio, followed by dinner and dancing the night away! During the reception, I remember looking around the room and feeling overwhelmed with happiness — it was so amazing to see all of the people who have made such an impact on our lives there supporting our marriage.

The day goes by so fast. Take time to enjoy the little moments and soak everything in.
